There’s a few sides needing an anti-relegation booster. As it stands there’s seven involved and Palace play Burnley and Watford in their next two, so could be eight. The bottom half is becoming murky
-
Caused Moyes to use a substitution by changing the right-back and played a reverse pass to Fraser enabling the goal. He defended well, too
-
Close Barrack Road between Stanhope Street and Pitt Street except for access; remodel the Stanhope Street and St James Boulevard junctions to allow traffic along Wellington Street and Pitt Street; pivot the ground on Strawberry Corner to increase the distance between the terrace and eastern side of the ground utilising space claimed from Barrack Road. Improve the International Stadium for use in the construction period and gift it to Gateshead FC at the end
-
He’s no Trippier but with a much improved Fraser in front of him that side can be effective attacking and defending. I like Schär but he looks awkward drawn out wide and I think the Fraser/Manquillo pairing is good enough to avoid that happening too often

Redefining ’resilience’

I just think that once outside the bottom three, if you perform better than a bottom three team then you’ll be OK. It comforts me?
-
As any Newcastle United fan knows, he quit twice (once to retire as a player) and was constructively dismissed once
-
ASM was the best player on the park for him, impossible to mark as he can go inside or outside so there’s no place to show him, has incredibly quick feet and is moving to another level. Fast and physically strong; Richards is a fan, it’s fair to say The piece about the press is best watched
-
Micah Richards gave a pretty good right back opinion of ASM and a piece about our press on last night’s MOTD. Brief but insightful
-
A difficult game and one I think we’ll do well to get anything from but positives for us from Villa’s performance would be that James gave them a good rinsing and he’s no ASM, the wide threat comes from their front three and I trust Trippier to cope with them (the left is a different matter) and they shipped three goals at home. We have perform at optimal levels, of course

Targett is a player that we’ve craved for so long.
-
I am a bit of a loss to understand why he’s got Schär playing on the left of the two centre backs; Lascelles is equally bad at left or right but Schär offers so much more on the right
-
Bearing in mind this is the Bruno thread, I don’t want to bang about this but I would far rather see Schär in a back four playing with a naturally left footed fellow centre-back and with a strong right-back and right sided midfielder who can do the defensive yards meaning he’s not going to be dragged out wide too often than Lascelles who is coughing up possession too easily at the moment. Long sentence, hope it makes sense?
-
Switzerland frequently play a back four, as recently as their draw against Italy when they qualified for the World Cup, a match that Schär playedin; I’m not convinced by the argument that he’s only suited to a back three. In fact he was our best defender v Leeds in a back four

3-4-3 isn’t it? On what’s available

August 6th, away v Rotherham

We all know people who bang on all the time about ‘overpaid Premier League footballers’ but in reality they are skilful athletes with a comparatively short career span; to frustrate someone’s ambitions to continue to play at the highest level that they can with no really strong justification is just small time. If he plays a lot of games and keeps them in the top six, fair enough otherwise seems spiteful
-
Rod’s from Middlesbrough so his opinion is no surprise. What is remarkable is how we’ve reconciled he and Glendenning; now united by their hatred of of us. Sweet
-
Cornet only scores when Wood is on the pitch. In the Premier League, anyway.
-
Drastic times call for drastic measures and this feels drastic
-
I see your point but if your current centre-halves are speaking in gibberish to each other perhaps it’s worth the risk
-
I imagine that there’ll be a vacant block between home and visiting supporters on L7 but the home section could well be sold out. Possibly over 50000. Probably only 48000 or so ‘screaming geordies’©️ though

Not to mention three League Championships since 1993
