  1. Think we originally wanted him for about 25/30 million as a Wilson replacement/ backup option . Was only when the Isak stuff happened and we obviously struggled to get anyone else in that we basically just panicked and massively overpaid for him to be our first choice striker .
  2. Burnley played awful football and finished miles Sunderland and Leeds who were both promoted with them last season, suspect that's a big part of why he has gone.
  3. Very true, when we had a bad run at the start of last season plenty dafties wanted him gone and were then made to look very foolish with how the season panned out. It's almost like they have just been waiting for another bad run so they can stick the boot in again. I know nobody really takes the X lot seriously but some of the stuff you see about Eddie from our so called supporters is truly mind boggling.
  4. Watching that game last night its obvious Gordon is absolutely lightyears away from being near the level of that Bayern team. The Bundesliga is obviously really poor these days so he will do well in that as a squad option but in no world is he anywhere near good enough to be playing in them sort of high quality matches we saw last night. I really don't see Bayern being daft enough to give us the 70/80 million we want for someone who is just going to be a useful squad player.
  5. It makes perfect sense to me, the likes of Tripper, Bruno, Isak, Joelinton were all massive reasons why we finished in them places, all them were at their peak and were good enough to carry the rest of the team and made the others around them look better than they were. Nick Pope was even brilliant for the 4th place season and a big chunk of the 7th place one. Now all of a sudden Trippier and Pope are finished, Bruno and Joelinton have been injured and are older whilst Isak has left. We have basically lost the entire spine of the team that did so well and not bought players that are good enough to come in and replace them.
  6. Fully agree with that, however saying the players have stopped playing for the manager or he has ran out of ideas is wrong. The simple fact is the majority of the players we have now just simply aren't good enough.
  7. I don't think its a case that the players have given up or aren't trying, they just simply aren't good enough. You look at that team that started on Saturday, Pope, Burn at left back, Willock, Murphy, Ramsey and Osula. That is 6 players who are simply not good enough for the level we expect to be. You then have Bruno who has been injured for weeks but also getting older, Tonali who wants away, Miley playing out of position and Botman who has been a shadow of the player he was since he returned from injury. You look at that and its hardly a surprise we are struggling. We need a huge rebuild and the majority of them players should be nowhere near our starting eleven next season.

He is made out to be far better than he actually is by the same people who want Eddie out , they make out he is only so poor because the manager isn't able to get the best out of him which is nonsense. He clearly has talent but he isn't strong or fast enough for this league. I think he will have a decent career in a different league but will be massively shocked if he ends up being a huge success in this league.

Beat us in their cup final and have conceded 8 goals in 120 minutes of football since then .
  10. I wouldn't even want Maresca here if Eddie did leave at the end of the season , such a weird thing him being the number one target for Man City .

Le Bris has achieved more than any other Sunderland manager in about 30 years and is giving you the best season you have had for about 20 years, all that after getting promotion that nobody expected either. I don't understand why anyone would question him really.

A fair few of them were turning on him before the playoffs last season and even again this season they were asking questions about him before they won at our place. Despite him giving them the best 2 seasons they have had in about 20 years he does get a fair amount of stick and isn't as universally loved as you would expect when you look at how well he has done for them. Not sure why, can only presume its the style of football they play. A combination of winning both the derby games and being above us has kept the masses happy but if they are midtable or struggling again next season you can guarantee they will soon turn on him.
  13. He already managed to turn one team of absolute shite into a brilliant team so no reason he won't be able to do it again. This season has been a shambles but I am pretty certain that if he is still here this time next year we will be on the verge of qualifying for Europe again.
  14. Munich can win or come close to winning the Champions League with our without Gordon, he certainly isn't going to be the difference maker in them winning it or not.
  15. Nah the Bundesliga is so poor these days, Gordon will be brilliant in it. Would expect him to get 15+ goals in that Bayern team against the type of teams he will be up against each week. He was never going to be good enough for one of the elite teams in this league as shown by his record and performances for us over the last 2 years. A move to Bayern is perfect for him as he can stat pad against all the farmers and continue with the notion in his head that he is an elite footballer.
  16. The Bundesliga is really poor these days , Gordon will score loads in that league playing for Bayern . He will be playing against similar level of teams we played in the Champions League group stage and he always looked good for us in them games . Just a shame he's been bang average in the league for the best part of two years now.
  17. I know a lad who genuinely believes all the good signings like Bruno, Isak, Trippier etc were made by either Ashworth or Staveley and all the bad signings were made by Eddie . He is off his tree .
  18. We have no chance of getting relegated, in fact we could lose every game for the rest of the season and we will still stay up.
  19. Based on yesterday he still has the backing of the majority of the match going support which is good to see. I have no doubt that if he is here next season then this time next year we will be in and around the top 6 again, one bad season hasn't made him a bad manager and despite how bad we have been we are only 6 points behind 6th as it is. I don't think he will be here though , we will probably lose the remainder of the games this season and he will be sacked but it will probably be made out to be a mutual thing. On another note whoever we do replace him with will have to do exceptionally well to match what Eddie has achieved here. I would be very surprised if the new manager gets us into the Champions League twice or wins a cup over the next couple of years.
  20. Hope he never plays for us again, Eddie has him sussed.
  21. The fact the vast majority of our support don't seem remotely bothered he wants to leave tells its own story about how average he has been for a long time now. Total opposite to last year when everyone was absolutely gutted Isak wanted to go.
  22. He's been bang average for the last two years ever since that move to Liverpool fell through . No coincidence all his best games have been against them farmers we played in the champions league group games . Comes across as a right twat as well, good riddance .
  23. I would like to think only the people without any braincells would take that.
