It is definitely easier to win now that the champions league format has changed though, look at how bad the two finalists were last year. Villa are probably going to finish 5th/6th in the league and win the Europa League this season as well.

Europa league would be class, aside from the fact we would probably be favourites to win it we would also get more experience of European football and it's a good gateway back into the champions league . Wouldn't be bothered about the conference league mind , now that we have won a trophy I don't think it's worth the hassle it would cause to our league form .

Looks a completely different player when he is up front now, pressing and grafting like mad. Fair play to him, if he continues doing it then he will certainly stop getting stick.

They have put up with that style of play this season as it has kept them up comfortably but they wont be happy with it next season, being hard to beat and organised wont cut it for them fans if they are midtable again next season but still awful to watch. They are already asking questions about it now and that's after them having the best season they have had for about 20 years. I don't think that manager knows how to play any other way either.

Have a bad feeling we are just going to be like a dog chasing a ballon again in this game , they are levels above us technically and will just pass it about with ease .

With the players we have we can only play one way which is running and pressing, not sure why we stopped doing it as even last season without Europe we rarely did it. The year we finished 4th was our peak in terms of running and pressing and that team would murder this one.

Not necessarily deprioritise it but you should still be playing your best team at home to Man City in a 5th round FA cup game when you don't have much left to play for in the league.

Think he got the team wrong yesterday, he put a stronger team out against Qarabag at home after winning the first leg 6-1 than he did yesterday. We always had a better chance of beating Man City at home in a one off game than we did of beating Barca over 2 legs so yesterday should have been the priority.

They are going to bring us right down to their level in a few weeks mind, just sit deep with a low block and try every trick in the book to nick a point and that's normally when we struggle. It sounds ridiculous saying it but I fancy us more against City and Barca in an open attacking game than I do against these lot. They did the same in the home game and look how bad we were.

Still not sure how good these are, feel like Carrick is just having a daft run that is never going to be sustainable long term similar to when Ole at the wheel first took over. We have owned these the last few seasons at home but we look a far cry from that team now.

Genuinely can't believe he was scouted at all before we bought him, think we just knew he was available and we panicked with the Isak money. He is the least Eddie sort of player I have ever seen, he has zero pace , he isn't strong or physical and he can't remotely press. This isn't even a criticism of the lad at all. He just isn't remotely suited for the way we play, or rather the way we used to play.

It's absolutely nothing to do with him playing better in Europe than the league . He basically feasts on all the farmers in Europe and struggles against better opposition in the league , it's not rocket science .

Man City have a cup final and a possible champions league game against Madrid close to this, also chasing down Arsenal in the league. Hopefully this game is the least of their priorities.

They were terrible no doubt about it but they have beaten Frankfurt and Copenhagen at home whilst also drawing against Chelsea so are nowhere near as bad as we made them look last night.
