That thread about Staveley highlights even further what we have known all along , they couldn't care less about the Saudi human rights stuff it's purely because they own us. They are genuinely giddy at the thought of us being dropped for Spurs .
-
He will obviously get asked about it though , be no harm in saying he is flattered to be linked to it but at this moment in his career it's not something he is looking to do. Would put an end to all the speculation.
-
Yeah if he genuinely has no intention of leaving he would just make that clear , if he is interested in the job then he will do that thing that players and managers always do when they are interested in a move and leave the door open for it to happen, either way I think we will have a good idea tomorrow if he has any intention of leaving.
-
This , we are never realistically going to be able to compete with them for players as they can blow us out the water with wages and transfer fees no matter who owns us . We are basically relying on Eddie continuing to perform miracles or for them to have a bad season in order for us to keep up with them and the other four big clubs .
-
It's probably the media causing shit as usual but the more you read about it the more it does sound like Eddie is open to the England job.
-
Another factor to take into consideration is the England fans , he will have seen all the abuse Southgate got despite getting to two finals so he will know that unless he was to win a trophy he would be in for the same sort of abuse .
-
When was the last time a young manager of a club looking to compete in the top 6 walked out on them to manage a country? As much as people like to say it is for some reason the England job dosnt have the prestige and pull that it did once upon a time . It will go to someone either out of work or someone already in the England setup.
-
Don't even know why it gets discussed, Eddie won't be leaving us for England .
-
To be fair the way the fans go on it's easy to see why they are despised so much , they remind me of Man United and Liverpool fans but without actually winning anything to back up the arrogance and sense of entitlement.
-
I agree with all of this , except I went from not being arsed to actively disliking England purely because of the way the media and fans go on. So arrogant considering how little they have achieved . Even the stick they give Southgate when he's the second most successful England manager ever just shows the mentality they have . I also will never understand how anyone can give Pickford dogs abuse when he comes here for a match but then worship and celebrate him when he's saving penalties for England.
-
England have had better squads than this and not made consecutive euro finals mind , it's not as easy as the Southgate haters like to make out . I couldn't care less about England really but the abuse Southgate has had to endure from the majority is madness when you look at what he has achieved. England don't deserve to win on Sunday based on that alone .
-
Name is on the trophy , Spain are vastly the superior outfit but you look at England and the way they have got to the final, beating three lesser teams with last minute goals and penalty shootouts despite playing poorly and you can't help but think they are going to win it .
-
Deschamps gets way more stick than he deserves mind, he's won a World Cup and was only a penalty shootout away from winning another . Teams literally just sit back every single time they play France which is why they have looked so poor this tournament.
-
Anyone else think they will definitely make an example out of us points deduction wise ? Could easily see us being docked more than even Everton got .
-
Yeah it's an absolute shambles if we have done that , no way can we be that desperate surely that we would even need to contemplate it and if we are then someone has fucked up big time at the club. We can criticise the PRS rules all we want but this one would be on the club.
-
In all honesty unless I needed the money for my own club to avoid a FFP sanction ,If I owned a premier league club I would be doing absolutely no deals with any club knowing that they could be hit with a points deduction if I didn't buy a player from them .
-
I would rather sell Longstaff as well but understandably nobody seems to want him .
-
Think this is a good deal , not convinced by what I have seen from Anderson so far that he is going to be good enough for a club that want to be challenging for the top 4. Sorts our FFP issues out without having to lose someone who I would class as a key player .
-
May as well just totally give up on football if we have to go down this route of selling the likes of Isak or Gordon just to avoid a points deduction.
-
Spain have easily been the best team so far, I think France will improve as well and beat Belgium comfortably. One of them two I fancy to make the final . Everyone is raving about Austria but France beat them and looked comfortable the whole game .
-
I agree we shouldn't be selling any of our players to them clubs, at the same time though we are never going to be pay the wages they can and at the end of the day that's what matters to the majority of players . Man United and Chelsea for example don't even need champions league football to attract players due to the wages they can pay . Thats why when people say we have spent 400 million or whatever we should be top 6 it's not that simple , our wage bill will be far far less than any of them clubs so Eddie is performing miracles getting us to compete with them really .
