It's a shame there isn't more redily avaliable footage of his time at Newcastle. What is it in your oopinion that made him so talented? Was it the dribbling and close control combined with pace etc? What modern player would you say he most resembles?

The squad is far superior now. The players just need time and we've had really unfortunate injuries (wissa, livramento, hall, ramsey).

I agree regarding direction being better quality on the ball rather than solely on set pieces. I assume you mean this Summer's signings because Chris Wood scored the most headers from set pieces in Europe's top five leagues during the 2024/25 season and Kieran Tripper was one of the best free kick takers in Europe when we signed him. We still signed a 6'6 striker and a 6'4 CB so we aren't exactly going full Angel Gomes (although he'd be a class signing). I think we've got great balance in the squad so hopefuly once things click, we'll offer more quality and also cause more distress for opponents via set pieces.

I think a football anthem should have lyrics, and local hero irritates me but I respect your opinion. I used the Arsenal one as an example of an anthem that everyone knows the words to and sings passionately before a game, I was not saying that the actual anthem isn't cringey and douchey.

Local Hero is the one song I would permanently ban. Lindesfarne and Sam Fender are great.

I've always despised Local Hero. I much prefer Coming Home, it's pure class. We really need an anthem that everyone will sing loudly before a game and after an game if we win. Something like this or that new Arsenal one.

What would you suggest instead? Any song recommendations?

I prefer our wonderful German by lightyears and yes Frankfurt defending was ABYSMAL, but it was a good looking goal and I don't think pretending good goals are meaningless or lame does anything for anyone.

15 goals would just about justify it this season. But 25 would be lauded, last season he got 23 prem goals (including pens). However, he's injury prone, as proven tonight, so he might struggle to get 23 again, we will find out. 125 mil is a fantastic sale. I'd have taken less to just get rid but we played it perfectly, despite many on here saying we should keep him and hold out for 150. The fact we missed out on so many and then got Nick is incredible luck.

Gary was brilliant for us. I wish that forum member (I forget his name) would change his profile pic as it just makes me sad and I can't really pay attention to the point they are trying to make. He's not even smiling or anything in the photo, just a very depressing profile pic.

The Isak assist away at Everton was otherworldly but he's never done something like that since. Whereas Woltemade does insane precise flicks and amazing stuff in literally EVERY GAME. Even when we got humiliated by Brighton he scored an insane backheel. Just WOW, what a player.

We keep landing on our feet. What a signing, just absolutely UNIQUE. Almost every signing we have made has been a very good signing. Even Elanga and Ramsey may prove to be well worth the money in due course, we will see but it's amazing and exciting.

The flick from Peter Kraut was exeptional, then nutmegging the keeper, one of our GREAT Champions League goals, will be remembered!
