I disagree. I think he would easily take on the number 8 role in the midfield 3. Especially if Howe is at times going to go with double pivot next season (as he did a few times last season) he would be perfect to play ahead of that. I get the feeling we were so rigid and set on playing 433 at all costs last season because there wasn't many other options available to us. Signing Maddison and another CDM opens other options up to Howe.

I'd be surprised if we hear anything more now until after the international games are out of the way. I know things are all sorted by agents and what not but can't see them wanting to distract the players with transfer talk whilst they've got important matches to play.

Should've scrapped the friendlies they're due to play in September and October and played these two games then instead. I understand the idea of having friendly games throughout the year when there is no tournament qualification but with all those games to play adding friendlies into that is unnecessary.

Man Utd at home against Luton so I'd say that looks realistic. Mostly stinkers but Brighton v Arsenal and Chelsea v Man City would be decent. Being away on the first day doesn't bother me, just want a home game on the last day.

If he is on 150kpw then this new Bruno deal will surely bring him up to that level at the least. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see a new (internal) wage structure this summer. Starting with Bruno and then work backwards from there.

I'd drop into L1 if I was him. He's 33 now, if he wants to actually play a full season this coukd be his last chance. He was never blessed with pace but he's a decent all round defender. He'd do alright at a Derby or Bolton, one of the larger clubs who'll have a shot at promotion and can still pay him a good wage.
