Still think we should have had a penalty against City to get to 4-1 too

Did I say that we shouldn't be striving for top 6? Or even top 4? And yes we're playing well, but again, I didn't say we wasn't? I'm saying statements like "only 7th at the end of the season would be disappointing" and "5th and 6th are acceptable" are crazy. That sounds 'entitled' -- that finishing below Arsenal, City, Chelsea, United, Tottenham and Liverpool (i.e. 7th) would be 'disappointing' after a 38 games season. We've had two windows to invest in a horrific squad. Quite frankly, a squad that would have been relegated last year, and would have absolutely been relegated this without investment. We can agree on the fact that the team Eddie inherited was shocking and we'd have likely gone down that year, right? So, to be absolutely sure, you're saying, that after only two windows of investment (with a third coming), and 12 months of coaching, it'd be unacceptable and/or disappointing for a team that was languishing down at the bottom of the table year in year out, to finish just beneath under the established top 6, while watching entertaining football week in week out, and finishing in what would most likely be a European spot?
  3. 7 points from United (A), Everton (H) and Spurs (A) is unreal.
  4. Howe giving him time to bed in and not throwing him in probably did him the world of good. Just like Bruno...

Well, if we finish 4th I'll be delighted, and I'll be in Europe drinking with you! But I stand by what I said. Suggesting 7th is unacceptable (and that 5th/6th is the new acceptable) is crazy. You also referred to me saying YOU are everything wrong with the fan base. I didn't say that. I said your comment was. There's a difference.

Yes, I was. Since 1995/1996. You didn't say the ceiling was 4th. You said 4th should be the goal, with 5th or 6th would be the new 'acceptable' which I think is complete nonsense. How on earth would going from being a team that has struggled to stay in the Premier League in the past 15 years (except one good season), to 7th be less than acceptable? Comments like these rightly give rise to people calling our fan base deluded and entitled. I fully agree that, if we can, why not aim for 6th, 5th or 4th. But to say thinking finishing 7th or 8th is not acceptable or bed wetting is crazy talk. Finishing 7th and maybe sneaking into Europe would see a marked improvement in on field performances, in addition to the off field improvements and increase to commercials.
  7. Burns was above his head to be fair. But then again I have nee idea what constitutes a penalty for handball anymore

This is just fucking nuts and in my opinion encapsulates everything wrong with a percentage of our fan base, post takeover. Just be thankful we're doing well, on the up and progressing.
  9. Is it me or does Pope kick a ball like he's shit himself??
  10. Great sub by Eddie. Positive change, too
  11. Makes me so thankful for the likes of Chris Houghton and Rafa...!!

Couple that with the fact we've currently got the best defence in the league. Incredible

Don't care about PPG or previous seasons or statistics. If you'd have told me after 10 games we'd have been below Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Man United we'd have took it. The only question we'd have asked is "Where the fuck are Liverpool?"
  14. Great first half. Was always open for a pass and was involved in a lot of what we did. Was a bit overran in the middle in the 2nd half and didn't have the ball as a result.
  15. Fully get it, but if he throws on a 19 year old lad who hasn't had that much Premier League Football, in front of a (struggling) Dan Burn who's on a yellow, at Old Trafford, he gets slaughtered if we concede. Frazer will run all day and offers some threat on the counter with pace.
  16. He plays experienced players in big situations and minutes who he knows he can trust. I have no objection to it
  17. Correct, sir ? I was thinking Fernando Torres! Still, 35m was a lot then...!!
  18. Before his time but Liverpool took Andy Carroll from us for 50m. A huge amount of money, particularly back then. Simply because they had the cash to spend. Of course in hindsight, they way overpaid, but nonetheless, a great and young prospect back then.
  19. Apparently it was him joking around as he's been linked to several women since his split with his wife. Last week he was even accused of starting a a relationship with Shakira, Pique's ex-wife. The media have been linking him to every woman in Spain, so think this was an attempt at a joke that's backfired.
  20. If I was a top 6 team -- City, Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, I'd be more worried about going to SJP than Old Trafford.
