I think Howe’s problem sometimes is he cannot change system reactively when it clearly is not working. Today we couldnt play past their press and were giving the ball away a lot. Murphy was a FB occasionally and the ball kept coming back. We should have changed it, go long behind or move Joelinton closer to Isak who was totally isolated. Burn and Botman are poor on the ball and slow, and it showed today. Sadly we have no options from the bench to mix things

I love Dan Burn, but without Schär our CBs poor ability on the ball is real clear. Burn passes the ball 99% of the time to Hall.

His pace is pretty much the same this season (3+5 bit over half a season gone) I am again not saying he is not a good player, but he really is not a solution for our problems, especially if he ends up costing 50 million (which is more than Gordon cost)

I only looked league games. I don't think Elanga is a bad player, but does he improve our XI massively? No he wouldn't.. And when we put 40-60 million on one player, he has to be a top top player. Mbeumo for ex. would be that. But I wouldn't buy from EPL rival. We are most likely going to be fleeced.

People might have said something like that, but Gordon had 11 goals last season. I don't think Elanga will ever reach that kind of numbers. We need both of our wide players to score and assist. I just see nothing special in Elanga. Malen for example a much better player (I don't think he is the answer either) and going for a lot less. I think Elanga is not a big upgrade on Murphy. Even their G+A stats are pretty close.

Elanga is nowhere near 50 million player. I don't get why people are so into him. He doesn't have a good shot, isn't a great creator or dribbler. He is just fast. Nowhere near the player we need. Wouldn't be a starter for any big 6 team. I hope we are past this "let's buy 'proven EPL player for 50 million' and not a similar type player from the continent for half the price" -nonsense. Mitchell should do his job.
