Yeah, people a seem to be forgetting that he was up against his worst nightmare yesterday We know Burns limitations, but a lot of the criticism since yesterday has been emotional, reactionary stuff. No one has mentioned that he dealt well with Diaby a few days earlier.
-
It would be nice if it was as straightforward as - Burn is slow and Tino isnt so we would perform better overall with Tino starting. But it’s not, the back 3 we shift into when Trippier goes forward and the aerial capability is what Burn does better than Tino would right now. Ironically the biggest issue is not what Burn is or isn’t capable of it’s that the current midfield selection leaves us exposed especially against pace. Burn was a big part of the best defence in the league last season because we were covered by Joe and Willock.

Hes slow, but it wasn’t as much of a problem last season because he was covered by Joe.. the lack of physical ability in front of him at the moment tends to leave him exposed at times against the rapid wingers of the PL. Last season he did get done a few times as well, but he could adapt and then deal with it well for the rest of the game. Dropping him off of the back of that performance doesn’t bode well for squad harmony, it doesn’t set a great precedent. Tino may get a start against Forest, but it’s clear as day that Howe sticks by who he trusts the most especially in our current circumstances. Tino/Hall don’t play the back 3 role as well as Burn.

Pretty sure he got two assists in their last game as well

Because Nunez was taking it

They have grown into this season really well, and have become more of a pressing side than they were at the start of the season. I don’t think they will over commit to the press against us after what we just did to Villa though, leaving space for Bruno to exploit would be a nightmare for them. A direct low block for the first 45 at least is what I’m expecting so it’ll likely be a tough game for us, as always an early goal would be massive.
-
Think you’ll find that just emotionally highly strung human beings in general, and most fanbases would react the same. Raised expectations and recency bias brings the worst out of fans, we’ve seen much of it on here this season.

The hate this guy would get if we were on the receiving end He’s a proper shithouse.

Any form of European football next season after the circumstances we have found ourselves in is an achievement in itself at this point, and it’s possible. An ECL run could be a lot of fun.
-
Dyche rallied them after that deduction, but now they have another one potentially hanging over them it’s a big ask imo. A bad run of form they might not recover from especially with a fan base that can turn so toxic so quickly.

I’ll say it again and again, he’s so under appreciated by our fans it’s unreal. When our press is fully firing he adds so much value all round. He is the embodiment of physical attributes counting above all in the press. How many goals have we scored from high turnovers since August 2022? I know it’s a fair chunk of our total percentage of goals without checking, we have literally brute forced so many goals with the press and he’s been a part of most of them. Hes a player who incites frustration when things don’t go our way, and it results in everything he does so well being overlooked.. lacks a right foot yes, occasionally doesn’t make that key pass but still consistently makes this system greater than the sum of its parts. Glad he’s staying, and doubtful he’s moved on in the summer.

What a result, proper payback on Emery for Howe after last season. The next few games will prove how much of a factor the fatigue was, and the benefits of increased preparation time.. another win on Saturday would be absolutely huge.
-
Had so much potential, and has dealt well with being thrown in at the deep end lately.. can’t wait to see how he develops next season and beyond.

Grown men, really sad

A DM means we would have to change formation to also incorporate Bruno at 6, can’t see us moving away from the 4-3-3. The current issue is who we have available in midfield, not that we don’t deploy an out and out DM imo.
-
Unfortunately I’ve heard that defenders generally have his number and track him well.

Anyone considered that he might actually be ill

It’s not as simple as just comparing the spending, Liverpool were in a big transition phase and their squad needed a rebuild when Klopp arrived. Pep inherited a side that had won 2 PLs in the preceding 4 seasons yet Klopp came in and re established Liverpool as a top 2 club in the country after seasons of general regression since Rafa, first CL win in 15 years and PL in 30. As coaches they are comparable imo, they both massively improve players and get the best out of them but I’d argue that Klopp has had more out of the sum of its parts of his Liverpool sides than Pep has out of his. Klopp just about takes it for me. Pointless argument comparing Ferguson, football has changed enough since 2013 so much so that its a non starter and we’ll never know. Anyway, these ‘who’s better’ discussions are a bit silly anyway without being able to compare identical situation and circumstances with another but we will all have our own opinions.
-
Unlikeable when he’s not on your side, but the best coach in world football imo. Liverpool heading into a bit of a transition phase (they are heading that way anyway, with key players getting older or leaving) would be good for a season or two, expect they will aim to bring someone in that favours a high press rather than rip it all up and start again..

Having Murphy and Barnes back will be huge for us, we’ve had to rinse Gordon and Miggy and it’s shown at times.

Sun rises in the (north) east and sets in the west (Ham), clearly
-
Also we clearly feel there is a lot of value to be extracted from Ligue 1 - Bruno, Botman, Ekitike and probably more we don’t know about.
-
That’s good value for him imo
