Imagine having to actually play this guy when he’s on form like that, nightmares

The ball he played for Ramsey for the sending off was very shrewd. Some of his best work tonight, starting to look a bit more at home in the central role. Hes one of the few players I’ve been very up and down on this season, the jury’s always out I feel like he WANTS to play centrally, and that’s why we are seeing him fully invested right now. When he goes back out wide I wonder how he gets on?

3 of those were highly unlikely to happen from the start. Having other, more realistic signings to move on to after the long shots have already gone doesn’t indicate panic.

He’s made a big point of speaking about mentality and to me it all feels a bit forced, like he’s trying to speak it into existence.. because I’ve never seen much evidence of it. A player with an ego like his should be playing out of his skin in games like today to stick it to them with the history there, instead you just don’t get much. It all looks to be a lack of real, actual confidence.

You don’t get much out of a player like this is in an underperforming side, let alone a side that arguably isn’t even very good in possession when they are performing. There had to be a bigger picture in this signing, he isn’t a natural 9 (although he did well there at first). Hes not physical enough for it, he has no edge about him. I’ll say it again and again, #10/SS is his position in this league. Will we rejig enough in the summer to get that happening? I doubt it. He will probably continue in midfield next season, and he will look ten times better in a positively performing side as long as we kick on and evolve the style a bit. We must be better with the ball, it’s clear our plan A isn’t sustainable with an added European schedule.

Most likely I think the performances will pick up once we are out of the CL, but it will be to little to late league wise
