Selling Pope for £5m and signing Trafford for £20m on a 5 year contract probably produces a minor PSR improvement next year assuming similiar wages. Of course there’d then be a cost it later years. A new contract for Pope would be the other option which is cheaper still in PSR terms.

Unlike those 3 he is a squad player and part of the group. Sures he’s probably paid a bit too much in wages, and his transfer fee is now too much given his role, but talent wise he’s absolutely fine for his role in the squad.

Villa played 8 games in 25 days, only peak Man City and Liverpool have managed to successfully handle that sort of load in recent years. Shame they ran out of steam after playing Newcastle! Arsenal are only still going in the CL as they’ve let the league go. A reminder for next season - and Villa even refreshed their squad in January
