  1. A drop of 50k per week is 2.5m a year, given he probably has another 4 or 5 years on his contract that is probably £10m to walk away from. Don’t see it. A loan with subsidised wages is the only thing that would get him to leave and I reckon that means he’d be sent to Italy or Spain
  2. Liverpool seem to keep dossiers on every other premier league club. Very weird behaviour
  3. Thems the rules. Tbf look at who wins the CL and it makes sense for players. They pay top wages and the biggest transfer fees and you compete to win the CL every year
  4. There has to be something in it for Newcastle to bother with the loans - if Hayden and Fraser don’t go off their careers will quietly end - so up to them really - but Nufc aren’t a charity and the leverage on the players is whether they want their careers to end now, or earn a bit less elsewhere but play on for another few years
  5. Liverpool (& Chelsea) will have defensive midfielders by the time Newcastle play them. One will have Caicedo and the other Lavia. Getting entire new midfields to gel will take time though
  6. Can also now see why these pair are both after lavia and caicedo Liverpool have an excuse in that Fabinho went to shite but Chelsea had Kante. I don’t know why I try and understand Chelsea’s transfer approach
  7. If James and Chillwell stay fit Chelsea will be a much better side based on that alone Comic how many of their big signings dont even get near the team
  8. Big season for Isak so great to open his account first game, just settles him into the season
  9. Issue with a new stadium is you’d spend huge amounts and the capacity would only go up about 18000 max as the club are not realistically going to sell out regularly over 70k Whereas there was a lot more corporate and premium stuff at SJP in the 00’s, you can boost the commercial revenue from the stadium substantially. A lot more of the leases and milburn used to be various clubs and areas. id expect a modest extension plus a refurb One outcome will be higher prices…
  10. Too much money but IMO overall a good deal for both clubs They are two midtable players, established in the league. Probably decent characters too. Maguire will play himself back into his (limited) form. West Ham will have a capable midfield 3 West Ham to finish a solid 11th or so and have some fun in Europe.
  11. Pundits have to say something even when there’s nothing to say so not worth reading too much into Carragher It is true the club has a very specific profile; age 20-25, up to £50m, from clubs that need to sell. This does contrast with Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City and who go after more established players and will pay bigger fees. Nothing controversial in stating that.
  12. Signings will make a bigger difference for Newcastle as the squad was weaker to begin with E.g. Shelvey then nobody > Tonali is a bigger shift than Man Utd signing Mount, Chelsea getting Caicedo etc I reckon 5th, behind Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. Caveat with that being reliant on a decent season for injuries. A few key players out for an extended period and it could be 8th
  13. 🤮 sport isn’t about how much money to be made, the idea it’s about attendances and commercials is awful Football is a European, South American and latterly African sport, if more people around the world start to enjoy playing it great, but the idea it’s all about maximising commercial interest is 🤮
  14. If PSG hold their nerve on benching Mbappe he’d have a year of no games before the Euros. Benzema leaving Real leaves the gap IMO Mbappe only fancies staying so he can trouser an insane signing on bonus next year instead of PSG getting the transfer fee this year - teams should reflect on whether that’s what they want in their squads. He certainly isn’t staying for football reasons
  15. Southampton negotiating hard on sales but ultimately they’ll have to crack for 1 or 2 players, that is the reality of relegation. Once we’re into august they will do some deals. They won’t sell everyone so who knows if Livramento is a player they genuinely want to keep it it’s just performative to get the price up
  16. I think and hope Gordon has a great season coming up, but fans are mostly judging him on what they saw on the pitch last season - which is not unreasonable!
  17. A lot of fans don’t go to games, or even watch them, and instead follow the team by statistics and graphs - these fans aren’t interested in those edge of seat moments when a player gets the ball and start to run
  18. Nothing to do with this stuff then? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-18254475.amp https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1314392/amp/Titus-Bramble-brother-arrested-hotel-rape-claims.html https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/sunderland-fine-titus-bramble-following-sexual-assault-charges-6258957.html https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-10842279/amp/Kieron-Dyer-reveals-trauma-falsely-linked-2003-roasting-scandal.html (On Bramble not dyer) People saw him for what he was, a prick. Hopefully he has matured
  19. No no no. Bramble doesn’t get a redemption He was positionally awful, reckless and had no concentration. His occasional decent long balls masked he was shite in possession as well. He also had a stinking attitude and along with Dyer was one of the main reasons that team fell to bits. One of the worst players of that era
  20. West Ham’s problem is everyone can see them coming, pockets bulging with the Rice cash. Fulham won’t sell for £40m unless there’s a clause
  21. Why would he do that? He’d have a host of better clubs than Tottenham offering him silly money.
  22. With Kane, for Newcastle the best result is he sees out his contract - Spurs would be stronger this season but would forego the £80m revenue and with Kane having 9 months left it would be a total distraction for them all year.
  23. I guess money talks but be mad career wise for ASM to entertain a Saudi move. First chance to play in the CL, at a club going places. Neves was at wolves who are stagnating. Fabinho, Ronaldo and many others are coming to the end of their careers, so a different scenario
  24. The club is in a very different place to January 2022. And if he wants to leave psg would he join a club where he isn’t a guaranteed starter?
  25. The deal with th footballers going to Saudi is take the money and keep your mouths shut. They won’t be agents of change, they are being shovelled full of gold to prevent change. Btw reports MBS is going to come to the UK on a government visit. If he gets entertained at Buckingham palace it’s a bit much to give a football club a load of grief
