What if you were getting 40,000 pounds per week to do it? I think I’d imagine it like
-
Chelsea will then have Chalobah, Fofana, Collwill, Badiashile, Adarabioyo and a couple of other younger players. Can only assume it’s their merry go round and they’ll trip and flip Adarabioyo or someone. Question to Guehi is do you wanna go somewhere for a year then be hawked round Europe, or sign up to start for years.

Need 5 midfielders for every single game, a) to influence games with substitutions b) otherwise the starting 3 end up shattered by the end of the season. This season really showed how much the team needs more quality coming off the bench at a level above both Willock and Longstaff. If he wants to go to play elsewhere then I’d thank him and say fair enough. If he stays I think he will contribute next season as a backup in domestic cups and certain league games. I don’t feel the match day fans are as hard on him as the very online fans. I hope he never reads this forum!

PSR. Same reason Anderson was sold, homegrown players are all upside in PSR calcs. Although perhaps Amorim also feels he doesn’t suit their system (who does tbf)
-
In the world of PSR (which Man Utd are one of the biggest proponents of) selling a 30+ year old for £80m is almost always the right decision.
-
Pope is coming to the end of his contract, so this summer it’s either sell or renew, if the club want to be “good sellers”. Pope is good enough to be a PL starter and has legit England chances, so he’ll also want clarity
-
Yes, Delap would be getting pelters from other fans for agreeing to be a backup if he came to Newcastle, when he could have been a first choice elsewhere
-
Two possible tactics here, early bid and early business, or let his agent know of the interest and wait until late August, so Palace have started to sweat
-
Hojlunds touch was absolutely rank - took himself miles away from goal
-
It’s a bit of a shitshow, the most positive angle is they hired the wrong man last year and have parted ways. But looking for a third DoF in 2 years is not ideal is it
-
Bit of a shit show. With Eales replacement not yet done it leaves a bit of a vacuum
-
Sounds like the journos just played to the audiences priors - they say stuff they know the audience will nod along to. Same for Delap, can’t say he’s moving for the money until you know who he signs for. They say stuff like that as the fans like to hear that any player who isn’t coming is greedy vs having football reasons
-
Tonali went missing for a whole season last year!
-
Delap to Chelsea makes the most sense for him, he’ll be first choice for a CL side if he plays well. It’s a no brainer, at Newcastle he can only be offered second choice
-
If he was off he’d have done a lap like Wilson
-
Yes, and if he is then first choice RW, and cover at ST, he’d be ran into the ground by January
-
Lascelles hasn’t played for a year and just signed a one year extension. He’s going nowhere
-
It’s just politeness, he’s not going to say ‘course he’s off, I’m not giving him another deal’ for a player who is popular round the club and who has never lacked effort. Wilson said his goodbyes at the end, Howe is letting Wilson announce it in his own time
-
It’s not the money with them as much as the players having belief in what they are doing. There were rumours about Fernandez recently, am sure a few of them would start to ask what they’ve signed up for. Would they be able to convince other players to sign 7 year deals to play in the Europa next year?
-
This time Mitchell has had months to plan it out, they would have had to wait until today to know whether it was list A or list B, but no excuse now for not moving decisively
-
I would have preferred Chelsea to miss out as I think their “project” could have started to implode. The good players starting to push for moves out whilst the failures stay unsellable on enormously long contracts. The CL might satisfy their better players and keep them going
-
A minor story but what was the reaction by the fans at spurs? Won a cup last week but got battered yet again
-
Superb season, poor result that shows the lack of squad depth, lot of players running on fumes. Same happened last two seasons. Depth up front and in midfield challenges to sort over the summer
-
Were people saying this when he smacked the goals against Arsenal in the league cup or in the win over Villa? He just needs a break, has played international tournaments past two seasons (even if he didn’t play last summer it still meant 6 weeks away staying match fit). Course with Barnes doing well, Kelly and Miggy gone and Longstaff not starting some of you need to let off steam against someone, just wait until a player is sold or leaves and blame everything on them
