They’re a bit nothing-y. If you were writing a comprehensive history of English football I doubt they’d trouble the references section.

Isak would be the hardest of the lot - but then, how many thought Isak would be this good when or before he signed?
-
There’s an element of that - depends on who comes in and goes out and how the season pans out I don’t think our better players staying or going will be determined by what happens in the next three days tbh. In the PSR world, there’s every chance they would go at some point regardless - I’ve never understood why people treat this like the sword of Damocles. Most clubs sell players at some point. If we sell then I’m pretty confident the money would be recycled back in and used to strengthen.

I still think it might be best to reserve judgement until the window actually closes …
-
Not sure why you should have to find anyone likeable - certainly not based upon who their employer is.
-
So Douglas’s wording was pisspoor, then. Because he implied that we would be able to sign neither.
-
He’s purported to be on £350k p/w. So unless Man Utd were prepared to pay £200k p/w for him to play for us - and that’s if we’d be willing to take the gamble - I don’t see it
-
We’re not signing a winger or a defender?
-
Zero chance we break our wage structure for Sancho
-
I didn’t get this upset when Gascoigne left despite: 1) him being my favourite player 2) it being patently obvious that he was a greater talent than Minteh 3) me being six years old at the time

Have to say it was the needless vitriol of the original post which made me laugh tbh. Hey ho.
-
True enough I was only joking, but re the right side - I still think we have options at the club. Up to the manager if he insists on only Almiron or Murphy out there. Personally, I always felt Joelinton looks far better left wing than in midfield, and I’d happily see Gordon or Barnes on the right. Not my call, of course - and Howe knows more than me, so it’s hard to argue.
-
Do what I do and watch NUFC instead of Brighton - much easier that way
-
Again, pisspoor wording - makes it look like both a CB and RW now unlikely.

The club’s value has been pinned at £1bn already. They’re definitely not running a loss vs club value
-
Hurst is the least worst of that list, too Always found those who define their wider lives around being known as a fan as a wee bit odd, tbh. Not in terms of football forming an important part of it - but of the need for everyone else to think you’re a ‘superfan’
-
While it logically makes sense, I like Howe ‘probably’ = ‘confirms’
-
It is shite journalism to bother quoting a supporter full stop - that Douglas is behind a paywall is laughable. We’re just punters, not experts - do some actual journalism you lazy twat. And nothing boils my piss quicker than a supporter being used as a ‘voice of the fans’. That the tf lot are happy to pretend to be this speaks volumes about their egos. At least when Hurst was proudly telling the FT about voting Tory, it was as a spokesman for the taxi business he got off his dad.

Depends. What part of the statement isn’t true?

I would always want to see us bring better players in than we have, and the limitations are there for all to see, but it isn’t panic stations if the window closes with no more signings for me. I do actually think that Guehi will end up here, mind.
-
Yeah, I want to see the club sign players as part of the progression, but there does seem to be a lot of outright panic. We’ve got a capable squad and a good manager even if no-one else comes in (though my preference would be to get more quality in). Can’t say that transfer ins and outs get my juices flowing generally speaking (other than the very rare ‘superstar’ signing)
-
I agree, I don’t think they’ve done anything to date which would lead to their characters being questioned (though I’ll add myself to those who have winced a bit at Eales a couple of times, but they were hardly transgressions). I’d urge caution re being overly critical or overly defensive of any of them.

There is a middle ground to be found tbf - I don't think that the current club management has done anything to deserve vitriol, but no club management should be immune to questioning nor to criticism - even if a shitload of trophies are won. Bollocks to Ashley and Llambias; plenty of us remember the failure to question the Halls and Shepherds because we had a good team and we had been in the worst condition in our history (far, far worse than that Ashley left us in), until it was far too late. They don't need to be obvious pantomime villains.
