I get the commercials etc. and see the point about Pope not improving but not sure how the figures help improve the picture that massively. 20 mill would be circa 14 profit minimum 30 mill (6 per year) replacement on potentially higher wages… If we had a better overall squad then fine but desperate for right wing, CH & CF but… Like I say dinosaur so happy for anything glaring to pointed out

Not having a dig as genuinely interested in your thoughts… What would a realistic sale have looked like? Price, who to and price of realistic replacement? I fully admit I’m old fashioned and struggle to countenance selling our better players etc. hence the question
  3. Hahaha cool, I'll blame you for Milner not being at the Toon for his whole career
  4. TBH if an article written by someone from local radio that once played for the club is impacting a current player then the player's friends, family, agent etc. need to step up as it should be white noise really...
  5. He was also a decent fullback himself back in the day especially defensively wise... Would have struggled athletically \ skillfully today but practically every defender from that era would do

    Alexander Isak

True! And would be the perfect way for our much discussed Sporting Director to announce himself to the world
  7. Monters

    Alexander Isak

He was excellent for them too... It hurt like hell at first given what he'd done for us and the Keegan song etc. but performance wise his movement and goal scoring was up there... Purely for interest how did you rate Fowler, Lineker, Van Nistlerooy etc. as they were effectively poachers as well

    Alexander Isak

Each to their own but loathed seems a bit strong! His movement was outstanding both in and around the box and running beyond the backline as well... The first season in the premier league under Keegan, Cole & Sellers were practically unplayable, this may be rose tinted but had Beardsley been available all season we would have come close to winning the league. Definitely a product of his time but still an outstanding centre forward and the avalanche of goals across multiple seasons backs that up too
  9. Fumaca for me, saw against Blyth Spartans and he was appalling and massively out of his depth and then lo and behold he came off the bench in a real game! He was like a competition winner that they had to allow on the pitch but only his Mam had posted the entry as he'd never kicked a ball before... Woeful

    Paul Mitchell

Plus there's a realistic chance Palace sell and Guehi wants the move, Arsenal and Liverpool aren't selling first choice players to us and those players aren't making the move either
  11. Fuck me! If all they were checking as FMV then what a waste of time as Chelsea could easily claim fair market value at almost any price for a West London hotel, it's hardly as if they were selling an allotment in Pegswood for millions! Surely the whole point was the ridiculous idea that you can sell something to yourself to make a profit

    Anthony Gordon

Fair enough, vague memory niggling away that he had it as a red line in the deal. Might be completely wrong though 🤷‍♂️

    Anthony Gordon

Vague memory from the time or maybe the Gary Neville \ Whitley Bay interview that Gordon insisted on the short contract as he backs himself so much, he’ll earn bigger and better each renewal. Could be misremembering but anything else would seem very strange for normal business never mind PSR.

Apologies if it has been asked before but what is it with the positions under their username? I mean MackemBob Striker WTF??? Asking generally, not expecting you to know the inner workings of that shit heap!
  15. Luckily there was always a sprinkling of quality that was just enough to keep us afloat... Nolan, Lovenkrands etc. first time and Enrique plus the Argies second time. We also had two competent managers too but you're right as I shudder to think what could have happened if we hadn't bounced back first time of asking each time

    Players in public

Big Dan Burn running on the sea front between Whitley & Cullercoats. He stopped to chat with an old fella. He looked in great shape and is rightly named, he’s massive!
  17. Yep the press always go on about Fergie's free flowing never say die Man United but that season they ground the fight out of more than just us! My memory may play tricks on me as I'm still bitter but I believe a lot of those 1 nils came with a late winner after Schmeichel heroics similar to how they nicked the win at SJP

    St James' Park

Totally agree, would much prefer just the name but I could live with anyone on the shirt being included but not sure how much if any additional revenue that brings
  19. Apologies if my maths is wrong but you're saying another 18 months?
  20. A right footed version of Kelly would fit the bill and cover most bases along with Krafth... Would struggle to name him though so over to the scouts Tino & Schar then Newbie & Krafth on the right Kelly & Burn then Hall & Target on the left (Burn playing only as a centre half) Plus we then have A Murphy and Ashby but they could well be back on loan \ sold \ not good enough
  21. As much as I like Stones there were times in the second half against Serbia when he looked like he was towing a caravan trying to get back in position... If Southgate wants TAA in the team then for me the option is Walker to centre half alongside Guehi and TAA at right back... Gordon comes in on the left and him and Saka work their nuts off up and down the line, we have excellent options on the wing for second half changes if / when needed, plus as good as Walker is defensively he's the opposite going forward as shown by the sitter he missed in the first game.
  22. Played for Durham for years and also played for England across all forms. Was a very good player but never took his talent seriously enough
  23. Me too! They played similar to us at our best and I desperately want us to play at our best in a final some day!

    Mark Gillespie

Totally! Also undermines what he does, yes training tool but if that tool improves the finishing of Gordon, Isak etc even 10% then it’s worth his wage. You don’t want Pope and potentially the back up keeper doing long stints after training as it could impact performance / energy levels. Same goes for a younger developing keeper who could be susceptible to injury with the additional workload. Finally 10K a week to a top premier league team, pocket change really
  25. We can dream though I think everyone knows that really but end of season and moving towards the start of transfer window so it's a little bit of fun!
