Vehemently disagree football is / should be about winning! I know PSR blah blah but one league cup in that long is not enough to be so arrogant we ditch the cups.
-
They sold Coutinho don’t you know 😉
-
Hope they never transition through Dubai airport… Toon tops in the Adidas shops there
-
Very true, that’s why I mentioned Shankly in the post 😆 From memory and happy to be corrected they were back rolled by the family behind the football pools competition around then too.

Agree with your club list. Personally I’d always go Milan over Inter but that’s purely Maldini worshipping
-
The American chancers brought them down but Liverpool have always been and will always be a massive football institution especially by UK standards. So revenue is the metric to judge now? Arsenal 7 major honors in the same time period... and they are also a massive institution. Highbury was an unreal ground behind the scenes in it's day but they are still smaller than Liverpool. In grates typing this born in the 70's so lived through the Liverpool love in from Paisley onwards and despise them more than any other club apart from the unwashed down the road but you can't ever say they've been anything other than a big club since Shankly and their first influx of cash
-
When? Unless I have miss counted sixteen major honors since 2000 not including Charity Shields Most be the lightest of light sleepers, not sure Man U are that asleep either
-
Don't watch a great deal of West Ham but I did enjoy Kudus ripping Arsenal a new one at The Emirates this season

Absolutely no problem with this, personally would probs use Brighton but if I was using initials it would be either BHA or BHAFC it would never be BFC for obvious reasons hence the request for NUFC
-
No problem... I was never arguing but somewhere cows graze is not exactly what most folks think of as a park nor suitable for a lot of typical park usage, green space yes but park not in my humble. Certainly not worth worrying about
-
No I agree in the main - they are all north of the city centre and I've never really classed the Town Moor as a park and exhibition park was mullered for the central motorway and T Dan Smith's alleged corruption. I will caveat that the city centre is tiny in comparison to most cities and public transport in Newcastle is awful. However if you consider St James' as in the city then Leazes Park definitely is as well but the club could be about to drastically change that - hopefully for the better as I am fully on board the new stadium train.

It's a fair bit closer to Newcastle than it is Sunderland... Flogging myself there in the rain on Monday night confirmed it The original Blaydon races were rowing events on the Tyne from Newcastle to Blaydon or at least that is what a play at the Theatre Royal taught me a few years back...
-
A chunk of that is because he has to! Salah is pretty much indestructible, if Alex had that type of fitness I’d agree but he doesn’t. You can argue he should but at the moment he needs help
-
Would the owners and support base be happy to finish where Brighton do most seasons but have loads of PSR?
-
He was past him prime when signing for Man City

Different era's but Given was top quality... I've sat in St. James in wonderment at some of the saves he made. One game in particular against Liverpool he basically kept us in it single handed, so much so he came out early after half time whilst the shower of shite stayed in the tunnel! We still get whacked in the end but that was the norm under the wonderful Big Fat Sam! As documented in other threads I'm a big fan of Pope but your statement just feels very dismissive of Shay and his quality and length of service
-
Club can spend its money however it likes, I’ll never not support anyone brought in but if it was my budget there would be a lot of squad improvements I would try to make before dumping Pope. Thankful it’s not up to me.

There was more times when he stopped being 0 v 3. There was also more times we gave it away in midfield and upfront and had centre halves out of position and struggling to read simple knock downs but yep keeper is the big problem.
-
I assume you are saying Allison, Raya & Ederson? I’ll concede the first, argue the second but the third is finished in my humble opinion. As always apologies if assumptions are wrong
-
It is but a what cost? We have lots of improvements to make, if the out field ten can’t keep the ball replace them! What good is a keeper chucking them in but splitting the lines to a midfielder who gives it away?
-
I’m also mystified how anyone could watch the Everton game and think keeper is our problem! I’m not arrogant enough to think I know better than the club so if they decide to go for a new keeper I’ll support and wind my neck in but until then. I truly believe we have more urgent improvements to make.
-
Genuinely confused why you want this? I’m an older supporter, played to a good standard back in the day so probably a dinosaur but a big strong keeper who catches / clears crosses and makes great saves will always earn you more points than some wannabe midfielder that jumps out the way of hard shots. our friends down the road had one years ago Sorensen… decent with his feet but shit scared of the ball
-
Can’t argue with any of that, Souness 🤦♂️

Is that the game he fell out with Robert the night before? Memories of a Steven Carr disaster class as well! If it’s the game I’m thinking about, it’s anger over sadness for me
