We should be the perfect club to standup to player power, mega rich owners who can stand the loss in wages / player sale etc. Plus united fan base and very talented manager, but PSR hurts us if we do… Although given the current circumstances it hurts us either way! Not clear to me (at least) what you are comparing to... but Tonali did have a year off the season before and Bruno is the club captain and they do tend to spend a decent amount of time on the pitch... Would Bruno's time on the pitch compare with the fake version at Man Utd or Arsenal's captain's minutes when fit?

Provided the price for Wissa is not widely over the top then I think there would be deal of at least remaining book value after two \ three years service as he'd likely be up for Saudi cash etc. Watkins maybe not but probs to US if he fancied it but he will be desperate to have a great season this year with the world cup on the horizon. I get the PSR stuff but at the minute (very despondent) we will be looking at massive revenue drops with mid table \ non European finishes for the next few seasons with the squad weakened the way it is

Fair enough, I can understand that. My guess and that's all it is would be that they went Minteh for less cash but similar attributes, I think Elanga has developed more in the time since but I know Minteh has many admirers on here and I'm certainly not slagging him off.

Personally I think he offers more that just pace but that is his most obvious talent. Someone shared a video of his goals and assists from last season and his two footedness stood out, as did his positioning which looked very intelligent and would give Tino or whoever played full back ample opportunity to overlap etc. which would help against teams sitting deeper. Again in my opinion

The window he went to Forest we signed Tino, Tonali, Hall (Load but guaranteed), Barnes & Minteh at that time who do we not sign to pick up Elanga? It's arguably that window, which put us in the shit PSR wise so would it have been better to spend £15 mill on Elanga or whatever the cost was for Minteh? If it was a mistake not to sign him then should that prevent us ever signing him? Obviously an extreme example but we fucked up with school boy Shearer but rectified it with a world record fee, was that bad business?

The club probably thought Minteh for half the cost was better VFM especially as we were signing Tino, Sandro and Hall (loan but pretty much guaranteed option to buy) in that window

I think it will be interesting to see the value Villa place on the women's team should they sell, obviously Chelsea are the dominant side and have been for a good while so you would expect them to be worth more but a big portion of the value is a punt \ expectation of revenues in the future when or if the WSL becomes a lot more viable. If that is the case then the values should be similar and even us selling a non WSL team would be able to bank \ claim similar amounts, however I do believe this can only be done once so if they do under value compared to real levels of income in the future then they will have short changed themselves. Obviously if you are using as a short term hack then the short changing doesn't matter.
