tbh I’d rather those now than at the end of the season when all of the above are fighting for spots in Europe or winning the league. Better chance to catch on an off day now than in crunch time during the last 5-10 matches of the season.

I’d be happier with Ferran Torres in and a rotational young CB with potential for 25m max or an experienced CB on loan.

The more I watch him the more I think he may be a CM and not a left back. He should receive the ball in more advanced positions. He has great passing but not the best decision making. I remember reading that he fancies himself as a CM when we signed him and I was perplexed by that at the time but now it makes a bit more sense. Would like to see him get a chance to play in longstaffs position one match. Wouldn’t be surprised if he looks more natural there.

This is being handled much better by those standards. This is being handled like Howe waiting until the 80th to make a sub - at worst. Or maybe like trippier giving the ball away leading to a goal in a tough fought 1-1 draw away from home. I’m not that annoyed with palace. He’s English. He’s 24. Had a great showing at the euros. 60-70m seems like the price for that. I’m just going to be annoyed if we’ve put our entire transfer strategy and all this time into Guehi and we don’t end up getting him with little time to move on to our backup targets. I do think there’s definitely better value on the continent for 60+m CB. It’s just the English tax, PL experience, age, one of englands better players at the euros. We are not only paying the tax but we are buying him at peak value. Would have been half this price last year and will probably be half this price next year. More reason for us to move on and maybe circle back if we are that keen. All that being said I wouldn’t cry if we wrap it up this week and it’s something like 55-60m plus add ons. Ideally I’d take a less hyped CB for half that and get in a RW. I love Miggy forever and Murphy is a real late bloomer but I can’t help feeling like that one position desperately needs to be sharpened with a match winning quality player.

Especially not if we have to wait until the end of the window and risk him not coming or being sniped by another club and we’ve spent all this time waiting on it with little time to go in for another. I’m fine with Schar burn Kelly Jamal as our CB depth. Hope botman is back in the winter and can stay fit. I don’t see 60m or this delay worth it. I’d be happy with a top level RW and maybe a young CB from another league. I like Guehi a lot but this is just getting ridiculous. Season starts on the weekend. Let them keep Guehi. I don’t see a 30m difference between him and some of the CB we can get elsewhere. The euros did his stock a ton of good but I think I’m over it.

They suffer from a lack of leadership. Had no effort there for stretches of the match. Got completely outworked by Slovakia. Agreed the manager should have gone to the bench by halftime. Also…doku playing way too wide. Needed him more narrow and direct as a LF to support lukaku. Not playing on the touch line like a traditional winger.
