The fact the owners saw he was a total charlatan early doors is one of the more joyful moments.
-
He’s been great since he moved there.
-
I think as a scout or even in youth development he could be very good.
-
I do feel sorry for Rafa in a way. He planted a tree he never got to sit under with the takeover.

One of the many redemption arcs of the squad. Happy for him.

The elbow on Almirón from Souttar was bad.

Get this lad rested for Sunday. One last game of the season and a final push.
-
Cheers Michael. This was the only good deal you brokered in 14 years.

Quite embarrassing and speaks to someone that was being fed lines by agents and was all too happy to post them. They’ll make mistakes, but they’ve made so many good calls, which makes this all the more ridiculous.
-
Yeah he’s not a bad player, but sometimes when he gets the ball it’s not obvious to him what to do. As you say, games will fix this.
-
He looks of the level, but I think he needs more football to figure out how he can consistently cause teams a problem.

Oddly poetic that it was Leicester tonight. I remember them battering us 5-0 early on and it was very humbling. Now instead of defending for a draw we were the ones battering them. The win would have been lovely, but the achievement meant so much more. On to Sunday and hopefully a rousing last game before a well-earned break.

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

I always had concerns about this guy. His career journey didn’t scream startling prospect. One good season for a mid table team isn’t a huge amount of evidence especially when the ask is 30m. I hope we don’t go back. -
For me it just depends on availability. If Bruno and Joe start I’ll be confident of us getting a win. The intensity we showed in the first half against a very in form Brighton should also cause this Leicester team problems provided we can match it. An early goal would be perfecf, but either way this is another game where the crowd have to make it difficult for them. You’ll not convince me otherwise that Brighton’s build up - particularly involving Jason Steele - was disrupted by the pressing and crowd noise.

I also think regardless of what he has access to his preferred strategy involves sustainability and rightly so. That’s why I find this summer interesting. They don’t have a deep squad and it likely doesn’t make sense to sell the few players that could earn them money (Neil, Roberts, Patterson). If they’d come up this year it would have been transformational for them. A few hundred million to play with (even if relegated) could have built out the squad and helped establish a scouting network. I can’t see a similar finish next year unless he drops 20-25m.

Curious what their owner does in the summer. The spine of the team needs work, with Diallo a huge loss.
-
Southampton fans must be particularly annoyed their nearby rivals have improved upon the process they themselves implemented post promotion.

I do wonder what the plan is for next season with this. We’ll have more competitions, greater international interest, and likely a greater influx of commercial content to push out. If you look at what the likes of Man City and other big clubs put out we have some catching up to do.

I still think that first half against Benicia was some of the sharpest football I’d seen him play.
-
I hope Bruno and Joelinton are fit. If that’s the case I think we’re grand.
-
I always felt like his issue was mentality/confidence. That team didn’t create much for the striker which meant they had to be clinical. That pressure meant he’d fluff some sitters, but also produce some tidy finishes (Chelsea at home, Spurs at home). I’d be curious to get his take on it.

But I thought Arsenal had grown up when they beat us? Almost like Neville and co made a daft leap from one narrow result.
-
Don’t sense Carrick would take the risk tbh.

Ramsdale is such a busy sod. Acts like he’s won stuff.
