    Jacob Ramsey

I’m more worried about his form over the last 2 seasons than injuries. If he can recapture the form of 22/23 then we have a great player on our hands, but we can say the same about Willock. Hopefully the positional move in to the centre helps him get back to his best.
  2. The same could be said for Osula, if we signed someone like Vardy on a 12 month deal then it makes sense to get him on loan to a championship club so he can get game minutes and goals under his belt. At 22, it is a make or break season for the lad with us.
  3. If we do, then we will either move Willock on or let Miley go out on loan. I thought last summer that we never replaced Anderson as we felt six was enough, and Tonali coming back from his ban facilitated his departure.

Hopefully £40 million is with add ons, which include us winning the Champions League and him winning the Ballon d’Or to get to that amount.

    Marc Guehi

Liverpool are stepping up their attempts to sign Crystal Palace and England centre-back Marc Guehi. Palace captain Guehi has a year left on his contract, but chairman Steve Parish said earlier this week he could be sold this summer to avoid him moving on a free transfer in 12 months' time. Sources have told BBC Sport that Liverpool have held initial talks with a view to signing the 25-year-old before the summer transfer window shuts. Liverpool are also trying to sign Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni. The 18-year-old Italian is not seen as a potential rival for Guehi but more as one for the future. Guehi was the subject of bids worth up to £65m from Newcastle last year. The FA Cup winners are believed to want £40m for him now, but Liverpool want to pay less than that. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c5ypkrgp8p6o
  6. He is similar to Wilson in playing style so would fit in quite well, his ability to drop and play link with the wide players would also be of benefit considering the pace of Gordon and Elanga, along with his ability in the air and his high level movement in the box that he uses to find space. While Isak is a great individual player, I don’t think he was the perfect fit for how we play, his hold up play was non existent and he didn’t offer anything to the team when we were under pressure. At times it was like having a functioning team with a rogue genius up front. His profile is similar Sesko but he isn’t as quick, but then again how many goals did Isak score that was purely down to his pace on the counter last season? A couple maybe? He scored more headers than that.
  7. Strand Larsen over Jackson.

    Malick Thiaw

Or Thiaw walking through the front door of Isak’s old house carrying a suitcase in each hand.

    Yoane Wissa

The other point of course is that there is no guarantee that we get Wissa, what with our inability to get a deal done when there is any sort of credible competition for a signing this summer.

    Yoane Wissa

The assumption is needed to push the straw man argument.

Shambolic going in to the season without a replacement for Wilson.

    Jacob Ramsey

I’m not sure about that but if it is the case then we should be looking at a project player with a high ceiling to develop alongside what we currently have. He also spent the majority of time playing on the wing last season, with some pretty terrible stats, so ye might not be coming in to the centre.

    Jacob Ramsey

His stats don’t suggest that’s the case though, and Villa fans are not bothered if he goes which is a worry. Even if we could argue that he was an upgrade, it would be minimal and he wouldn’t get in to our starting eleven, so you would have to wonder what the point of it is. We should either spend on a project player with a high ceiling, or go big on a first team player that pushes Joelinton out.

    Jacob Ramsey

Debatable if he’s better than Willock.
  15. He isn’t going to bin his career off by refusing to play for us ever again. What gets said in the transfer window to try and force a move and what happens when it closes are two different things. The majority of it will get denied, excuses will be made and he will be back playing by mid September.
  16. Did the Ramsey talk at the beginning of the season have Barnes going the other way? That might explain why Seung-Soo is getting a locker with the first team, back up to Gordon and possibly Wissa who plays down the left too.
  17. If Eze goes to Spurs then Willock would be a good fit for Palace, although there was a rumour about Miley going to Palace earlier in the summer. Adam Wharton would be the ideal long term replacement for Joelinton.
  18. Spurs have a Korean lad that has played for the National team, although he hasn’t been anywhere just gone out on loan to Portsmouth. He came on against us in the friendly a few weeks back when Maddison got injured.
  19. I don’t think Ramsey is any better than Willock and I don’t think he has ever been in the sort of form Willock had for us in 22/23. While he hasn’t been anywhere near that level in the last 2 seasons, a lot of that I put down to not having a consistent run in the team due to injury or Joelinton being in that much better form than him. I can see Ramsey going the same way as Willock here, he’s hardly a project player either as he has been around for years.
  20. You would need to pay him if he was on gardening leave, you wouldn’t need to pay him if he decided he wasn’t showing up for work and went AWOL.
  21. I would like to see an £130 million bid come in from a Saudi club now and we turn it down publicly stating it doesn’t meet our valuation. Just to reinforce our position to the vultures circling.
  22. Would be a great signing and the sort of player that would help unlock teams who park the bus.
  23. We should look at something creative like loaning him to PSG with Ramos coming here on loan, with an option of making it permanent if it works out next summer. I don’t care if they are getting the better deal over the season, I just don’t think we can trust him on the pitch for us again.
