Nineteen days. That's how long it has been since Liverpool's £110m bid for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak was rejected. Since then, there have been no further offers. But it hasn't stopped the future of the 25-year-old Sweden striker being the biggest talking point of the summer window. Will Liverpool bid again? Will he rejoin first-team training in the meantime? What happens if a deal is not completed by the 1 September deadline day? BBC Sport has spoken to a number of sources in an attempt to get the latest on these questions and what might happen next. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ce934rgyg57o

It would be that we were chasing them as Isak’s replacement, who remained with the club and is better than all of those strikers we were linked with.
-
I wouldn't want Vardy as back up to Isak but he would do as a third choice option so Osula could go out on loan for a season. When you are the only available striker at a team playing against 10 men, and you still only get a token run out at the end suggests you are not going to get much game time this season, so get him out on loan.

Hard to believe we won’t bring a forward in, even if it is someone on loan.
-
Because it isn’t like they have signed him in the way that we have signed Thiaw, they signed him last season on loan with an obligation, so have picked him up on the cheap, which gives them a chance to make a substantial profit quickly and reinvest. The fee was apparently £23 million, but could be looking at around the £55 million mark if they were to sell him.

Strand Larsen would be a great signing and a good chance Wolves would sell if the money was right, so they can invest in maybe 3 new signings. I wouldn’t have an issue going with Strand Larsen and Wissa if Isak moved abroad.

Going without another striker other than Isak would be beyond stupid. We have been lucky with injuries when we have gone short of cover previously but our luck will run out eventually.
-
I think Cole Palmer is the only Chelsea player rated on here.
-
Bournemouth would sell their entire starting eleven if the money was right.
-
If Eddie wants to go with a real curveball he could buy Semenyo and play him up top, he played as a striker in his Bristol City days and shares similar attributes to Wissa.
-
You would think Vardy would get more minutes than Osula, the latter can then go out on loan.
-
Nkunku was hardly injured last season, he was just used as an impact sub, without much impact.
-
Not just his goals in this one but also some clips of him coming deep to link up with midfield before bringing the wide players in, something we could do with to release Gordon and Elanga on the counter. His movement in the box is what is most impressive, which isn’t shown that well in this one.

Chelsea are desperate to sell a couple of forwards, I don’t see them holding us to ransom.
-
Man Utd played well but they played like it was a cup game, which you can understand with the historic rivalry with Arsenal. I don’t see them playing with that intensity every week.
-
Inter apparently want £30 million for Frattesi.

We have had a terrible pre season dominated by the Isak saga, and we are going in to this game with no striker of Premier League quality available to us. A defeat is expected, anything more than that will be a bonus.

Miley would have seen how much Anderson has developed by playing a full season at Forest, while he is younger he is at a similar ability level to what Anderson was before he moved.

Mascherano refused to play for Liverpool to force them to sell him to Barcelona, Sterling did the same to Liverpool to go to Man City. The best one was when William Gallas refused to play for Chelsea and said if he did he would score own goals, and demanded he was allowed to join Arsenal, which he did. It seems worse that this is us, but I think we have a lot of sympathy from the non-Liverpool fans and people in football, but as long as he isn’t sold under value then I don’t think it will make much difference to us going forward.

Salah and VVD have their big contract extensions, time to slack off now.
