He also said "at the end if your carreer it doesn't matter how many trophies you have." Right, who cares about trophies?
-
Still looking for a right wing. Gordon? Big Joe? Barnes? Hall? Schär maybe??
-
If only we could just shell out 70m on Guehi, and if it doesn't work we can just buy a different 70m defender next window.
-
Imagine being able to spend 120m + wages on a flop, and still have massive spending power in future windows..
-
I'm just worried about what your team can do without mr trophies.
-
@Froggy Your favourite manager Eric Ten Trophies is finally turning it around here! You look like a different team! Oh wait..

That's my impression aswell, the only reason I can think of as to why we we have been sort of trying to not go all in on the press. But Howes on managerial style revolves around high press and hard work. That's what he does best. It's a very difficult dilemma to solve. And before anyone else say it, I'm well aware that we have been pressing a bit more lately, but it has still been nowhere near the 2022-2023 games.

I had a dream last night that we took all the Guehi money and spent it on Haaland in january instead. Just saying.
-
There was a time where he was isolated and wasn't scoring, and I said that I couldn't for the life of me understand why some people said he was our best player. I thought he was too inconsistent to be a top player. 6 months later I felt like a fool. I'm not going there again. I believe the guy was 2nd in the league last season for goals per 90, behind Haaland.

Team (and individual) performances in international tournaments has so much weight in these..

Gotta love twitter "leaks".

We used to have our left back function as a 3rd centreback when attacking, but with a more attacking minded left back (which I think is a necessary evolution of tactics), the lack of a pure defensive midfielder is more apparent. Trying to find a new centreback to play as a left back is not a long term solution imo. It doesn't give us a good balance when attacking.

From Bruno himself: “But if I have to choose I prefer to be a ‘segundo volonte’ (a box-to-box). It was the role I played at Athletico Paranaense and Lyon. But I can also play as the most defensive midfielder.

This is from september last year:

Interview from Howe when we signed Bruno "When asked if such a goal was on Bruno's highlights reel, Howe confessed he's been signed to play as a number 6 more than anything else." He said: "Goal-scoring is not something he has made a name for himself doing but he is capable of the unexpected and that is what he did. "The goal was something we probably did not expect from him but shows his technical ability and he is going to be a huge player for us." It seems like Howe made up his mind about it like 2,5 years ago.

There needs to be a balance, we can't have half the game be VAR stopping the play to evaluate replays. I think diving is getting more and more nasty and rewarding every season, so that's worth trying to crack down on regardless.
-
Agree, I rarely comment on the ref myself. But that game I was actually upset. It was incredibly one sided.
-
Yeah true, but ofcourse VAR can't intervene in most cases. I just mean that the onfield refs has been extra bad, even more than usual.
-
I thought the ref against Brighton was even worse. Atleast this ref gave a soft decision or two our way. The ref against Brighton kept giving them freekicks for diving, and gave them a goalkick when literally everyone was preparing for a corner.
-
Lately it has been the actual referees on the pitch who has had shockers..
-
I'm even fearing the Nottingham away after those at this point. They are in great form, and we're still a bit clueless away from home.
-
Ofcourse we are playing better than we did when the entire team was made of mid to lower table players. But, since we are on the topic of history, these are the last few league finishes before takeover: 10th, 13th, 13th, 12th Some of these finishes were done with the allmighty Bruce as manager.. We will probably get atleast top half, but we have a way better squad than what we had. Yes, we still have some of those less good players, but atleast we have 4-5 higher quality players and more depth. If you look at the starting 11s and the benches in the seasons mentioned, you'd realise how much worse it was. Heck, we used to rely on ASM being fit as much as possible back then..

I think he has a habit of not looking up often enough. As if he just assumes that he's on his own. Have seen it before. Maybe a bit of tunnel vision that some strikers can have.
-
Need to watch the clip rather, still image is often misleading.
-
Without him there would barely be any highlights to show from our side. On that big chance he did well until the final moment.
