Sensible decision by rigg. If he joined a prem side. He’d either be in the reserves or loaned out anywhere and everywhere for a couple of years. At Sunderland he will get first team football probably quite often. wonder if any club approached him with /Sunderland and had the offer of staying at Sunderland on loan next season. But chose to stay there as their player instead.

this whole PSR comment. if they are using that line already, does it not mean its a boost to the new financial year/years, rather than scraping it through the last one? like say we got 15m for him, thats 15m better off on this round already? or am i still completely lost with this whole thing?

twitter ITK's (i know) reckon a fee has been agreed for wilson. if true, reckon it will wait until start of july to boost the funds on the new financial cycle? cant see it been done today imo

what else would you have done differently financially? they had to bring in quality players, who cost more.. to gain ground on teams around us at the time. If they brought in lesser/cheaper players and not progressed. People would have been fuming at that instead. there are players here who have been here a while who they can’t sell as no one wants to buy. So not a huge amount of opportunities to bring money back in. it was obvious when he signed that players like minteh were potentially brought in with this sell on for higher amount idea in mind. Which has happened. Koul was another but that doesn’t seem to be working. this next 3 year cycle should be much better. They inherited a club that has had next to no revenue generated for a decade. They’ve built this up already.

Likely all that was needed to hit that target so just accepted it to get it out the way.

We have a complete new cycle on the whole PSR stuff, with the new finances coming in to play, adidas/champions league etc? If so. We can then pretty much go all out with incomings? same with any deal between companies. a price is sent, usually lower at first to try get a "good deal" on the buyers side. the selling side then review it and discuss it internally, either say yeah thats fine, or think, no we want more, so go back and say that. or they go back and say we want X amount. the buying club then take that onboard, then return with a new offer. if both have different values in mind, its not as simple as it looks. buying club have budgets for everything so need to work out if the extra causes issues elsewhere etc

wonder if it was “leaked” or “put out there” in a tone of a dig at the premier league and its whole forcing clubs to sell players they don’t want to sell due to ffp.
