Agree with all 3 of your points Getting a CB will improve the baseline of the team, we can score 100 goals next season but as we seen, if we ship goals, it's gonna knack us With Murphy / Almiron we still got a record scoring season. Don't get me wrong, it's a bit ridiculous we haven't upgraded the position in 6 transfer windows, but needs must right now with PSR and last seasons results etc Wish we had gotten Marmaduke or even Trafford

Getting Guehi / a marquee signing would give the team such a lift man, hope it gets done

Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to play Atletico Madrid in Sela Cup

We thinking the team will be stronger tonight or tomorrow, or a mix? We lined up pretty strong last game -
They have Mudryk and Sterling, isn't Neto too similar to them? Mainly transitional players Plus, Palmer has to start, if he plays in a 10 role to accommodate a RW then I think their midfield would get ran through
-
I also share the opinion that £65m is a huge fee for him, in comparison to some other players who look good (Lacroix, Tobido, Hujlsen etc) Rightly or wrongly, I tell myself the club researches it's players to the n-th degree and knows when to pay a premium for the right player. So far all our purchases have worked out well and at good value (Tonali ban aside)
-
Why are they giving out contracts longer than 5 years? Didn't they close the loophole where you could amortise over 8 years etc So surely Chelsea are worse off as they are gonna book this cost over 5 years, but have the player on for longer which is a risk if he is shit, gets injured etc Unless I'm missing something, or they have yet another trick up their sleeve etc...
-
It was clear Tonali lacked an understanding of our team and tactics in the first few games. If I remember correctly, he had some good games and some quite poor games. He was also playing in a few different positions in midfield I'm sure (Milan away I remember him being close to the touchline on the left hand side) With Longstaff it feels like his job is just to 'steady eddie' the position, he doesn't really offer a lot defensively or offensively
-
Joelinton on £150k would be crazy imo I'd understand an increase that gets him into 6 figures a week, but he shouldn't be on that much imo
-
Yeah good point about the home fixture Plus Kelly has only played 45mins in pre season so pretty sure he's ruled out of starting the first game
-
I'm sure it'd be Guehi LCB and Schar RCB, at least until Botman is fully fit For me it's a question of will he start Hall/Kelly or even Burn at LB Hoping it's Hall, he has a great end of the season and also has looked good + lots of minutes in pre season there But like you say, Howe loves Burn (height..)
-
Hahaha, should have said under new ownership 😂
-
Getting excited at the idea of singing him now like, pretty sure it will be the first time we signed a highly rated Prem player who shouldn't need any time bedding in
-
For me the top 3 are undoubtedly Man City Arsenal Liverpool These 3 are way above the rest, like someone else said, I don't think Man City are as close to as good as they were 2/3 years ago, so maybe Arsenal will pip them. And Liverpool could go through an adjustment period with a new manager, who knows Us, Man U, Villa, Spurs and Chelsea - I consider close in terms of ability on the pitch, though Man U, Chelsea and Spurs blow us out the water in revenue for FPP so have that constant advantage Guehi, a decent RW, Pope not getting injured and I reckon we could pip them 🤷
-
Looks like they have massively beefed up their squad rather than starting 11 compared to last year, also they don't play with such a heavy style as us which would suggest it's more sustainable. Also, there's no chance they get a group as hard as us 😂 So can see them fairing better / CL taking less out of them
-
Said this before as I don't know much about Kulu, but is he good enough for us if he's not good enough for Spurs? I consider our teams at a similar level (though not in the FPP world if I dare say) Plus we'd be doing them a favour I know he'd be an upgrade, just surely there's better out there for the price 🤷
-
Also wouldn't Guehi be left centre back alongside Schar if we do get him?
-
@KaKa Sounds like that RW we mentioned earlier
-
Alvarez going for £70m? Crazy figure Strikes me as one of those good at everything but excellent at nothing players, who can cover the front 3 quite well but ultimately isn't going to improve a man City Or maybe I'm being harsh on him as their team is full of quality
-
I like this idea RW is our weakest starting position and probably back up position too. Looking at LW with Barnes and Gordon, those 2 are quality to have in 1 position So if we can't get our no.1 / Olise level signing in, then surely we have an talented younger player with long term potential, who could also make a difference now seeing as Miggy/Murphy are quite poor
-
No takers for Gibbs White it seems Quite like him as a player and think he could definitely step up
-
Yeah I totally agree, but the previous poster said 'any' player I was just referencing that unfortunately the cost of players and FPP is such a burden and limiting factor for a team improving. I admire him for never giving a shit, but for example I'd be gutted if we signed a CB who improved us for huge money and then we couldn't afford a RW etc Not saying that we will do this or Guehi is gonna bankrupt us, just a hypothetical
-
What about if we overpaid for signings like Everton or Man U, would you care then? Casemiro improved Man U for a season, now he's a £60m + old DM with no legs on mega wages
-
I understand the apprehension when it comes to Howe and Hall Got to question why we bought Hall if he will be the victim or a preferred 3 CB system / height at LB

I worry that Tonali will take a while to get up to speed when he is baxk and Longstaff will have the place nailed down for a while I know he's apparently trained well but imagine he'll take a while to get match sharpness
