If we signed someone of Ekitike's 2022 profile now, he finds himself in the position Ekitike was when he joined PSG (limited games, etc) and has to leave to get first-team football anyway? So we don't really see the benefit. No doubt just being around the likes of Messi, Mbappe & Neymar would have rubbed off on him, but he probably doesn't flourish the same way he has if he's only getting 15-20 games a season.

I think you draw a line under last season and go with what's perceived as your best XI. So that means Gordon for Barnes, Elanga for Murphy, Botman for Burn, and you go from there. The top 4 are all strengthening with their transfers, so if we can score a couple of quick upgrades from within, we should go for it.
