They aren't a great team, sign of this season's premier league when you look at their position. Still, they've turned it around since Carrick came in without looking anything special. We can win, but not if we gift them goals. If they score more than 1 they'll win.

If someone is willing to pay £80m+ for a forward player that's scored 9 goals in his last 54 PL games, it's pretty hard to turn it down. He could well find the form of 23/24 again, but would we turn down stupid money to find out if he will or won't.

What's our record without him? Still winless in the league? Going to be a tough end to a frustrating season.

Villa is doing just fine with Europe and the Premier League, as are the other English teams except spuds. Can't keep hoping for a season in then a season out of Europe. Conference League is a winnable competition and I'm all up for it.

Unless the summer signings come good, last summer will put us back 2 or 3 years. We needed a better first team then, and now are no further forward but with a lot less money. Trafford looked like the goalie we need over these 2 legs. I seriously hope we don't sign Ramsdale for 20m. Tino is never fit (and may well be sold to Citeh) and Trippier as good as he's been for the club, shouldn't be here next season. That's potentially 2 RBs needed. Dan Burn isn't a LB, we still don't have a back up to Hall. Schar and Burn getting older at the back, both been fantastic, but will need replacing sooner or later. Willock hasn't been good enough for years, needs an upgrade. Gordon, Elanga are basically ineffective, maybes a new manager will change that? Murphy another great servant but shouldn't be starting games for us. Barnes the most dangerous and rarely gets a start. Wolt and Wissa, I really like Wolt but I don't see him as a PL striker, let's hope Wissa finds some form because the way he's playing I'd rather give Osula a go. Depressing.

It's an even bigger task this summer than last. 2 goalies that aren't good enough Aging defence 2 full backs, though 1 always injured Uncreative midfield Uncreative forwards 2 strikers that don't look like the future.

Reminded me of 6 or 7 years ago that tonight. Eddie's been nothing short of fantastic for us, he'll be forever a legend with the cup win and also 2 CL qualifications. But we are going backwards and those 5 summer signings for £250m have been a failure. I hope he can get us up to 7th and qualify for Europe, and go on hold terms in the summer, I just no longer think he's the man to give £300m to in July.

Can't see us being in the league and FA cups much longer so maybes this squad can just about get through the season and push for 6th or 7th spot. Big summer ahead, as we thought last year.

I don't think we'll 'throw it' - we just aren't consistently good enough to catch up with that top 6. 7th is the best we'll get, IMO of course.
