He does have 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 7 games like. Whereas Barnes has drawn a blank for 8 games, Murphy has drawn a blank for 11 games and Elanga has 1 assist all season. Whether he appears to be putting in the effort, other players are shafted into different positions to accommodate him or whatever else, he’s the only winger at the club performing at the moment.

To be fair I have great faith whoever they bring in will be a disaster too.

You cannot have control if you choose to play without the football. There were long periods we were happy to be camped in without possession during that match, as we have observed in many other away games this season. Were we “digging in” at the mackems when both teams were trying to have as little possession as possible? They hardly had us under the cosh. You take possession of the football or move 10 yards further up the pitch. Having 11 men in our third whilst Burnley sat with the ball on the halfway line is conceding possession. Why did we stop pressing? Was that not a tactical instruction either? We were pressing for 10 minutes and then stopped.

Then why on a number of occasions each match do we have 11 men behind the ball when the opposition are in possession? Why do we stop pressing and playing with intensity? None of that is due to a missed pass.

Players like Gallagher and Trafford would be a disaster for the fees they would command. Neither an upgrade (or are a slight upgrade) on what we already have. The more we see of Ramsdale and Pope and the less we see of him, the better he becomes. He’s an okay goalkeeper. He’s not better than either of those two and he also has a number of limitations like they do too. Essentially you could play any of the three and people would always be calling for one of the other two to be in.
