Guest SLK
What have you got coming through your youth policy at the moment? Rarely see threads on here talking about it. PS Zog v Milner - doesn't Zog have something of a mardy arsed attitude? Milner wins hands down on that front, as his attitude is beyond question. Attitude is good when the player is skillful...Not wanting to turn this into Milner thread but he just isn't good enough...I'll keep him as a squad player but definitely need improvement on the RW... Guest SLK
The difference with Zog and Milner are these: Pace. Zog can skin a man on the outside like against West Ham leaving Bowyer for dead. From that position chances of scoring from a cross increase dramatically as opposed to Milner's, stop; feint, shuffle, cut inside (because he can't go outside) or cross high routine. Goals. Zog scores them and Milner doesn't. Forwards, need to get some goals and the best wide players do. Milner, considering he's got a decent right foot scores very few, and I put that down to lack of bad intent. He just doesn't want it enough IMO. Agreed, especially with the first point. When N'Zogbia beats his man he looks to get the ball in straight away while the opposition defence is disorganised, Milner on the other hand stops, turns the man again, does a step over, turns the man again before floating a high ball in, while he's going through the usual routine out on the wing which is slowing our play down the opposition back four has a chance to reorganise and set themselves again. when's he done this ? last season he was our 3rd best left midfielder, this season he's played left back and got round the back how many times ?you could argue when he's got forward it's been cos of milners hold up play. you'll also find when he plays midfield and is further forward, quite often ahead or on line with the forwards he doesn't whip it over but holds it up a lot more however he'll put it in earlier when it's rolled back to him, which he can do when playing at full back. Who else wasn't SH*T last season ? Isn't that the reason why we got rid of Roeder ? Just because Milner didn't stink and sink as much as the rest of the team under Roeder doesn't make him a really good player, or does it
Guest SLK
Why so many people wanting to sign left backs? Maybe because we don't have a genuine LB other than Enrique...
rocksammy
Edmilson Van Der Vaart easily obtainable if you want to splash the cash and great additions to the squad, i only see edmilson coming myself. sparta
cant see why everyone thinks riise is a pile of dog crap. he is a fucking cunt, everyone knows that. but as a footballer, man, he cant be that bad. at least not for that price! (around 6m£) proven player for several years, still young, gets rarely injured, scores goals out of nowhere in important matches, quality attackin LB, dough questionable defending LB. also a versatile player (playable at LB and LW at least!) as many fear the babayaro factor (as do i) i wouldnt mind seeing him here! except from the cunt status... i fear a lot of responses now but a opinion none the less :parky:
Colos Short and Curlies
Anelka to replace Owen (who I have an inkling may end up at YouTube City). Could play alongside either Martins, Dukes or Smith or on his own. Will probably score more than Owen over a season if he was in a comparable team as he will play more often. Failing that Messi would be nice
Yorkie
Milner was average by a decent clubs standard last year. In our team he looked like a decent player amongst a shower of s****. Certainly no pearl. Zog? Score? Create?. Apart from that. f*** all. over how long ?does that mean last christmas you were saying the opposite of what you are now saying. if you think milner should be replaced then i can't understand why you don't think n'zogbia shouldn't be replaced, both players have similar potential and at least milner doesn't become more of a hinderance but keeps working when it's not going for him. i agree with dropping milner right now, like i said drop n'zogbia last year. N'Zogbia has the tools Milner will never have. No lover of hard work without talent. Prefer a lazy b****** like Robert or Petrov to Milner any day. He simply doesnt have it. N'Zogbia is not going to be great either but has an awful lot more going for him than Milner. Nb: No I wasnt saying the opposite last xmas. Was that the last time James played well? He certainly did ok then. Nothing then told he shouldn't be replaced though. i don't see what n'zogbia has done in his time here to rate him any better then milner. Just ability. Milner doesn't have the tools. My main concerns with Milner: His technique isn't great. (zog has a better touch and ability on the ball) His crossing is patchy (as is Zogs but he can whip a ball and Milner can't do it as well) He has below average Premiership pace (Zog isnt lightning but he has above average pace) Both are strong but Zog is more aggressive. Both decent squad players. milners technique is as good,i'd say he's better dribbling than n'zog and gets past his man more. milners crossing is as good as n'zogbia's milner can play well on either side n'zogbia has a better eye for goal milners defends better from midfield then n'zogbia but n'zogbia makes an adequate full back. both decent squad players with potential. Hehehe I've never read so much rubbish in one post as this even your best line "Nzogbia has a better eye for goal" is not quit correct either..N'Zogbia has GREAT eye for goal compared to Milner... Madras has says fuck all wrong. He's slow, but he beats his man frequently. His crossing is erratic, just like N'Zogbia's. He can play well on either side. 'N'Zogbia has a better eye for goal', i think is the only thing i'd disagree with. More preditory instinct in the box, maybe. See the Derby game for N'Zogbia's so called 'great eye for goal'. Milner does defend better from the wing position.
Lotus
Don't agree with that last bit Yorkie, remember Zoggy intercepting passes from the oppostions midf going to their right winger. I think Zoggy tracks back quite well (Souness era).

On the other hand, Zog's pace and ability to drive with the ball stretches the game more, scares opponents and generally increases our likelihood of scoring. An in-form Zog would offer more than an in form Milner, imo, mainly because of this reason, whether or not he directly contributes more than Jimmy does. hakka
Why so many people wanting to sign left backs? Well... Babayaro is rubbish and always injured, without him we only have N'Zogbia who isn't a left back. Rather have him running towards defenders than marking the oppositions wingers. Also, if we are in the position where N'Zogbia, Babayaro and Enrique are out... we are screwed! (and this is easily possible given how bad our injuries have been over the years!). Guest BigSamsBarmyArmy
A right winger is needed for us. Hopefully we can get someone like N'Gog or SWP.
Guest Knightrider
Money permitting of course... In Anelka - The Frenchman can play in Sam's preferred 4-3-3, up top on his own or down the flanks as he sometimes did for Arsenal and Liverpool and indeed for Bolton at times. He's quick, he's a goalscorer and his all-round game is far superior than either of Owen or Martins' game. I can't see Bolton hanging onto him for much longer and I reckon Big Sam would rather have someone like Anelka over Owen or Martins and as such if his purchase meant losing one of them I wouldn't say no to it. Diouf - He can play on either flank, up front as a striker or just off a main striker. He's quick, tricky and can carry the ball. He's also a team player and a real goal threat. He already wants out of Bolton and rumour has it we were interested in him back in the summer but couldn't thrash out a deal with Bolton. I expect us to put a bid in for him in January as Big Sam rates him highly. He'd be a fantastic signing all-round and along with Anelka would transform us going forward. Out Owen - Great finisher but he will always be a liability due to his injury concerns and of all our strikers he for me is the least suited to 4-3-3 and because he's not getting any younger, I'd cut our losses and pass on the burden he has become to some other club. We don't really need Owen now, or rather such an individual who needs the team built around him. Not when for £10-12m we could buy a much more suited striker with more qualities in someone like Anelka. That would be my main deals of the window. After that )following windows) we can then look at that creative playmaker for the middle and more squad depth at full-back as well as a genuine top-class centre-back of good age. A player like Diouf would add a bundle of creativity and spark to our play without the need for a specialist playmaker, especially as we'll have Emre and Barton fit (you hope) in the middle. Our whol team and the way we play will change dramatically with Anelka and Diouf on board who would bring class, pace, flair and goals to the team, plus the experience of having already worked with Big Sam thus knowing his methods and being able to deliver them. Team Shay Beye Faye Cacapa Enrique Barton Geremi Emre Diouf Anelka N'Zogbia
STM
I'd take Anelka in a flash. I'd also take the talent of Diouf and in some respects the attitude but the other side of Diouf would hold me back. I also think Sam will be thinking along your lines HTT. Martin Lol
FWIW Spurs are close to agreeing a deal for Russian captain Andrei Arshavin. Comolli flies to Russia tomorrow to finalise details. Don't know how their transfer window impacts on ours, the Russian season ends in a months time (11th November) and their window is then open.

Guest exilim
Anelka will be good but we know he will be gone the season after next if we aren't in europe. So lets just stick with Owen for now and get diouf in on the flanks of 4-3-3. Since our policy now is to develope young talents, might as well take Kerlon Foquinha and let him perform his seal dribble on the sunderland defenders. Yorkie
We don't really need Owen now Rubbish tbh. How many games this season, with our style of play, are we going to be deadlocked against a beatable side for 85 minutes? It's already been the case in four of the matches this season, two of which Owen was out of shape and we ultimately drew (Boro and Villa). The other two games i'm thinking of are Wigan and Everton, where Owen was on form and scored what were both ultimately very late winners in both. See what i'm saying. We need Owen more than we need a lot of players. It's the Shearers and the Owens who win you those games, not (as much as i like him) the likes of Martins and Anelka. If the striking department is tampered with in January, i'll be pretty annoyed tbh. Needless, absolutely needless. (Wouldn't be too fussed if Shola were to leave, though)
