Yeah, in January.  Was already reported he wouldn't move until the summer.  Confirms he's the one the club wants though.  So really it does just come down to wether Derby get promoted or not.

Aye, sounds like it.

He was probably one of the candidates who said 'wait until the summer', and since the wheels are falling off his Derby campaign, he will probably get the job.

As someone said earlier, pure 6/10 appointment.

It's a clear 5. Could easily be worse, could be significantly better. Pure middle of the road, just what Ashley wants.

I'd snatch your bloody hand off for a 6 appointment right now.

Kinnear was a -5, Pardew was a 3 at best and Carver, as pointed out above, is a big fat 0.

We've all been seduced by some of the names bandied about on here - Garde, Tuchel etc. but realistically that was never going to happen. As usual we'll be shopping at the charity shop end of the market and although McLaren is uninspiring he is at least a competent coach/manager. At the moment that's the very best we can hope for.

Exactly. McClaren is about the best we can hope for until Ashley fucks off.

At least Steve won't be suspicious of every foreign player. At least he isn't incredibly pompous and annoying. At least he has actually experienced winning something. At least he has experience of managing in Europe.

If somebody had said we could have had McClaren over Pardew I think we would have all jumped at the chance. I still maintain that McClaren actually does like to win things though and thus either won't come to us or if he does, won't last very long!

Sounds like he has some questionable DNA to be perfectly honest.

One upside of appointing McClaren is that if he turns out to be shit, he'll make an easy manager to hate, like Pardew. So if the football is boring we can entertain ourselves dreaming up new ways to abuse him.
