Yorkie
I ain't having this argument. I want rid of Colo but Owen is utter scum.

Yorkie
Colo was clearly a decent choice for Captain when he got it and was at least an 8/10-er every single week for two years. But, like his entire existence in the team, he's completely outstayed the welcome. Owen was a cunt who should never have had it in the first place. Shite decision by Keegan to give him the armband, but significantly worse decisions were made by everyone, until Shearer, who let the self-obsessed little rat keep it. Teasy
As shit as Coloccini's been in the last couple of years he's still done far more here than Owen ever did.
Ronaldo
Should Colo have had it in the first place? We should have bought a captain figure to replace Nolan but didn't out of fear of rabble-rousing against the regime.

sbnufc
Can actually see Sissoko or Tiote getting it. I'm really hoping McClaren and the new coaches can get Tiote back to his best or near it. The way he turns into danger, holds the ball too long etc are all stuff that can pretty easily be coached out of him. Something the incompetent twats who went before never realised, unsurprisingly. henke
Is it possible to play football without swearing? De Jong captain with Janmaat announced as vice captain.
Ronaldo
Bobby did the same thing. Insisted the players wouldn't do in on a matchday and get booked if they refrained in training.

Don't think he'd strip Colo of it tbh. He'll just wait a season until he goes imo.

He only became captain for want of an alternative, and the team has sorely lacked leadership on the field. Trouble is, it would be difficult to hand the role to someone else, whilst Colo is still in the side.
Ste
You look for leadership from more than just your captain, and Janmaat and de Jong aside, we haven't got a whole lot of it.
Darth Crooks
If youre looking from that perspective it's janmaat by a mile.
ads
Aye, for what it's worth Janmaat would be my choice.
Dan Gleebals
Janmaat all day long, even more so with the ever increasing dutch contingent! As good as Siem or Georginio might be as well Janmaat deserves it IMO. Colo has been in decline for sometime now and could leave at the end of the season - time to think for the future. He might even play better with no armband on!
AyeDubbleYoo
On balance Janmaat aye, with assistance from De Jong. It's my biggest hope for the season that De Jong stays fit, I think he's class.
triggs
I'd be surprised if Colo got stripped of the captaincy
Ste
It's a lot easier to strip Coloccini of the armband now than it would have been with Jonas and Enrique here. Depends on Coloccinis standing with the players. You have to take into account he's going to be starting every game when fit too. From McClarens point of view, I'd let him keep it but then say to the others that they should display leadership also as the captaincy is up for grabs in the near future. TRon
Unless we buy another centre back, Colo is still going to be first choice so I don't see why McClaren would be stripping him of the armband.
Kanj
I like the idea of captains who actually have won something and communicate. McClaren should be looking at this pre season and thinking clearly of who he wants to make the face of this club internally and externally. De Jong and Janmaat stand out for me. If Sissoko didn't have 1 step out the door, I'd throw him in there, but I've got the feeling Wijnaldum will come in and absolutely boss the place too. KaKa
Yes, nice that we are looking at signing a captain that just won the league in Wijnaldum. Pretty cool. Between him, De Jong and Janmaat we have some strong looking characters.
AyeDubbleYoo
He does have to be careful with Colo though, assuming he's our number one CB still.
KaKa
If we sign one highly rated centre back. I would look to jettison Coloccini immediately. Sick of his silly face. In all honesty I wish we would sign two top centre backs and rid ourselves of Colo, Willio and Taylor.
