Yes there is an agenda. Proof was in the last Keegan years - the run in to the title that never was, when the Mirror in paticular carried umpteen stories to unsettle Newcastle ("Phillipe Albert wants to sign for Man U" - which an enraged Albert furiously denied being one example of the made up crap they printed) It was designed to unsettle Newcastle for Man U's benefit And it WORKED. Barton, currently on bail on assault charges in Liverpool, tussled with Villa striker Shaun Maloney in the first half. Television replays highlighted the incident but the referee, Lee Mason, took no action. The FA may now investigate. More s*** stirring. Barton hardly jumped on Maloney and mauled him to the ground. It was a 50/50 tussle that happens all the time but since we're Newcastle United and he's on bail charges, it's suddenly esculated to GBH. f****** fuck-wits. One team always seems to slip down the table into the drop zone from February onwards and Newcastle have the potential to be that team. When they got rid of Allardyce it was because one of zebra-stripes wanted a team that could thrash Chelsea (as if) and greater entertainment. He's halfway there. The defending in the second half at Villa Park on Saturday gave everyone a good laugh. Keegan's patronising and insulting comments about how much harder the Geordies work for their money, and how they spend it on football when us southern softies spend our big wads of cash at the theatre, was an attempt to unite this little corner of the North-east in a 'them against us' struggle. It worked. Now the rest of the country loves giving Newcastle a sound beating, whereas before we didn't really bother about them. Keegan's taken a team that may not have been the best entertainers in the world but which worked hard and defended stubbornly into one shipping goals with comical defending. And that from a Manc (I think he is ?) Nowt to do with football, but UP YOURS all you southern, provincial and macum journalists who love to have a cowardly pop at us from behind the safety of your desk. Whats more despite the present goings on, with Messrs Ashley, Keegan etc commited to the cause we WILL have a football team to match the city. It was alleged that Barton took a swing at the Scottish forward during his side's 4-1 defeat at Villa Park. But after studying video evidence, the Football Association has cleared the 25-year-old of any wrongdoing. Even when, at a corner, Amdy Faye thumped home from close range to bring the score back to 3-1, it proved no more than an interlude amid the punishment. Manchester United were merely changing which hand held the whip, and the beating resumed.
