Baggio
erm, didn't Baptista join Roma? Not yet, they're supposed to be signing Eto'o and Silva so I'm not sure if they will go for Baptista too.
Guest ObaStar
Baptista sucks. Arshavin can play AM or CF. Anyway when talking about cover for LB we also have Tozer who might be good enough to step up to first team in an injury crisis (aka every year in december). toontownman
Arseshaving would be lovely but id be suprised if he ended up here. would rather stay put imo, like to be wrong.
hakka
With Emre gone and Barton possibly facing a lengthy ban, do we need to sign two attacking midfielders? or is Guthrie counting as one?
Coxaux
Unreliable source, but: Newcastle to put in final offer for Basel's Derdiyok Saturday 02 August 2008 - 11:34:31 - Click to post or view The Switzerland International Eren Derdiyok has been on Kevin Keegan's wishlist since the European Championships, and the 20 year-old has admitted that he would like a move to advance his carrer, as long as Basel agree to let him go. Keegan was put off by the £6million fee demanded by his Swiss owners, and dropped out of the running as it was thought that Fenerbahce had come in with a better offer. That deal has now fallen through, and Keegan is considering moving back in with a £5million offer to try and prise their prize asset away from Switzerland. Although only 20 years old, Derdiyok has a great record of 14 goals in just 12 games for the Swiss U19 & U21 sides. He received his first full cap against England at Wembley this February and went on to become the youngest player at the Euro2008 tournament. If Keegan could get a player of this calibre at such a young age for £5million he would jump at the chance.

Flip
Even Kevin Davies and Harry Kewell excites me more and those two. YEs Derdiyok would be a great addition to the striking force as our 3rd/4th striker...Then i would go and try to put 15 million on a good attacking central midfielder. We are in bad need for some creativity in central midfield, why not try to push it for Diego after signing twwo argentinian national team players? KaKa
Derdiyok would be another in the Guthrie and Bassong mould. Guthrie looking to push Nicky Butt and eventually displace him. Bassong looking to push Faye and eventually displace him. Derdiyok looking to push Viduka and nudge him out also.

Errol82
Skjelbred is an excellent prospect, but not ready for the PL yet. He's probably one of the biggest talents in norwegian football atm. but that does not necessarily mean that he is going to make it at Newcastle... Flartyblartclart
I think it's generally accepted that we bid for Turan before Euro 08 probably at the same time that we bid for Coloccini if what his agent was saying is right. Haven't heard his name mentioned anywhere or linked with anybody since the Euro's. Our bid may still be on the table. Wishful thinking mebbes.
