Guest LucaAltieri
Sounds a bit like an overreaction. They think he might have set off the fire alarm - so they're guessing. He grabs hold of a porter who was asking him if he needed any help getting out of the building. He has a knife on him... didn't threaten anyone with it... just says he had it on him. This could well be one of those situations the media blow all out of proportion.... or I might just be talking shite.

Left yourself open for mockery there mate .only the Night Porter and Hotel staff know what went on and as for Gazza well i guess he didnt .Great talent wasted with stupidity on the pitch could be wrong but were most of his injurys caused by reckless challenges and larking about in nightclubs while recuperating .read his book and i pityed him because of what happened in his childhood and cannot condone the wife beating obviously.Imho he will probably end up dead in the next couple of years or a sad figure like George Best
Big Geordie
Part of Gazza's problem is that he was easily led. Not only by his advisers who shafted him in the end, but also those 'friends' who hung onto his coat-tails (not specifically 5 Bellies). I wonder where they are now ? Nowhere to be seen, I bet. I wish him all the best with his recovery.
Guest the_guv_nor
Get ready for this text tomorrow... Gazza sectioned under mental health act and sent to institution for retards with no chance of recovery. "we're glad to have him back!" says Keegan!. I know little bout the incident and if i did i wouldnt post on here. However what i do know is that people do not get sectioned lightly. I have arrested many people who have clearly been barking mad under the mental health act only for the shrink/social worker that is required to section someone rule them sane. If he has been sectioned he clearly has troubles! Yeah, you're more than likely right. Just the cynic in me thought that if the media had any grubby details about the incident they’d be sure to print them, which they haven’t. They only thing confirmed was that he got hold of the porter. But as you say, if he’s sectioned there’s probably more to the story.
BlueStar
Yeah, you're more than likely right. Just the cynic in me thought that if the media had any grubby details about the incident they’d be sure to print them, which they haven’t. Papers today are coming up with all sorts of details, that he binged on coke and whisky, held conversations with a plastic parrot, answered the door with "I'M MAD" written on his forehead etc. As usual if any of them are true is anyone's guess. Thespence
Seems to be quite a bit of shit flying around from what I could gather from Hilton employee (not the Malmaison!!!) it was not staff or other guests that called the police but Gazza himself. TRon
Interesting reading the news, so many messages of support and sympathy being sent to Gazza, but the people who were actually subjected to his antics, hotel staff and the like found it all a bit distressing. Shame the twat never grew up imo.

biggs
He was spotted running up and down the quayside in a shellsuit singing at the top of his voice "The fog on the tyne is all mine all mine the fog on the tyne is all mine" chasing a plastic parrot down the river . GM
Poor Gazza. Can't a man talk to a plastic parrot and eat raw liver whilst in the nude these days without getting negative press? What's the world coming to?
Tsunami
It is a disgrace that the PFA or someone has not helped the lad. He was the best footballer of a generation, exploited & badly let down by cleverer people whoused then abandoned him. That plastic parrot has a higher IQ than him, not his fault, all his brilliance was with a football & now he's too old for it. I'd love to se NUFC provide some support to him and perhaps allow him to come and go as he wished into training etc. He needs help, he's one of us, so let's not scoff at him, let's help him. NB yes he's done some terrible things & yes he left the Toon but he is in desperate need of a focus in his life & he will not get it anywhere else. Cronky
Anyone know why he is living in a hotel, i mean, wouldnt it be cheaper and nicer to live in a flat/house? Possibly he can't bear to be living on his own. I've always felt that Gazza was more to be pitied than scorned. Football seemed to be the one thing that kept him together, and now that he hasn't got that, he's gone downhill.
ChezGiven
http://football.guardian.co.uk/breakingnews/feedstory/0,,-7330205,00.html Keegan says Newcastle ready to help stricken Gascoigne LONDON, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Newcastle United will do what they can to help Paul Gascoigne after the former England midfielder was detained under the Mental Health Act, manager Kevin Keegan said on Friday. "We as a club will do everything we can to help," Keegan told Sky Sports News television. "His family know that, we've talked to them and we can help a lot. "It's sad but maybe what's happened now could be a turning point for him, instead of looking at it as something that's really bad this might be the best thing. "I have talked with his dad and one of his sisters and I know it looks negative but I think it is a massive positive for Paul Gascoigne, from all the information I've had," added the former England manager. Gascoigne, capped 57 times between 1988-98, was arrested and taken to a psychiatric hospital on Wednesday evening after police were called to a hotel in Gateshead, near Newcastle. The 40-year-old has made regular appearances in tabloid newspaper headlines for his behaviour off the field. He admitted in a 2004 biography to beating his wife Sheryl. VENABLES SUPPORT Former England manager Terry Venables told the Sun newspaper he was saddened by what had happened to a player hailed as the most naturally gifted of his generation in English soccer. "He is one of the most generous and warm-hearted people I have ever met in football and maybe that has contributed to his problems," said Venables. "He has struggled to come to terms with the end of his playing career. "I am in contact with Paul's mum via a friend and I am ready to talk to her or Paul if there is anything I can do to help," added Venables. Former team mates agreed Gascoigne had struggled to adjust to life after football. "Gazza's had a few opportunities in football, he's had a few opportunities in the media, but it hasn't worked out because that didn't give him what he wanted," former England international Paul Parker told BBC radio. "He still wanted to be a professional footballer, he still wanted to be there with the lads in the morning, he wanted to be training, he wanted to be playing every Saturday afternoon. "Gazza's still like a young boy, all he wants to do is play the game and his body doesn't allow it any more." biggs
This is probably a daft idea but with KK offering to help out with Gazza i wonder if the Toon would allow Gazza to help out with the youngsters at training but i know with him being daft as a brush he might have a disruptive influence or it could help sort him out and they will have a laugh with him . GeordieDazzler
One hour after playing for England, met 'showbiz pals' Danny Baker and Chris Evans in a Hampstead pub while still wearing his full kit... boots included. When asked for his nationality before an operation, told the nurse: "Church Of England." On a trip to London, jumped out of his car to demand "a go" on a workman's pneumatic drill. After getting the go-ahead, happily pounded thepavement to the amusement of shoppers. On first meeting with Lazio's president to discuss his big-money move to the Italian club, was quick to tell the esteemed gentleman that he reminded him of Russ Abbot. Organisers of Italia 90 TV coverage had the splendid idea of augmenting team line-ups with footage of each player mouthing his own name. Gascoigne's genius led him to subvert the process by, instead, mouthing'f ***ing w* **ker.' Broadcasters across the world had to use it all the way through the tournament. Booked a series of sun-bed sessions for then-Newcastle team-mate Tony Cunningham. Who, of course, is black. Asked by a Norwegian camera crew if he had a message for England's upcoming opponents, immediately responded with, "Yes. F* *k off, Norway." Then ran off laughing. Turned up for England training the morning after then-manager Bobby Robson had called him "daft as a brush" with a floor brush sticking out of his sock. When asked for a footballing comment while at Lazio, burped enthusiastically into a TV microphone. He was fined £39,000. Decided it would be a great idea to have massive hair extensions. Looked a fool and had them taken out a day later. After paying for ex-wife Sheryl's breasts implants, sent flowers to the hospital after the operation addressed to 'Dolly Parton.' Astounded commuters in London by jumping on a double-decker in London's Piccadilly Circus and asking if he could have a drive. The bus driver saidyes, and the passengers thoroughly enjoyed Gazza's impromptu performance. Sent a rose to the Wimbledon dressing room for Vinnie Jones after the infamous ball-squeezing incident. Got a toilet brush in return. Set up best mate Jimmy 'Five Bellies' Gardner with a 'girl' he knew tobe a transvestite. Has taken the p* ** out of refs constantly during his career. On one occasion he sniffed a hapless ref's armpit while he was holding his hand high to signal a free kick. Undeterred by their frosty reactions, Gazza again tried to prove that refs have a sense of humour by yellow-carding the referee after the official had dropped his card during a Rangers v Hibs game. He was booked for his troubles. While attempting to deflect the 'kebab controversy' which spelled the beginning of the end of his England career, assured reporters that his doner-munching antics following Middlesbrough's promotion to the Premiership would in no way affect his fitness before France 98. One reporter asked: "What do you feel like now?" Back came the inevitable response:"I feel like a kebab with onions." As an apprentice desperate to impress then-Newcastle boss Jack Charlton, spent a week's money on fishing gear and begged the famous angler to give him a lesson. On arrival at the riverbank, Charlton promptly threw all but the rod out into the briny, then poured a bottle of Newcastle Brown into the water, dipped in the rod and within seconds was pulling out a whopper. Lesson over. As 'perk' of boot-cleaning duties during his apprenticeship, took Kevin Keegan's Golas home to show his mates. But left them on the Newcastle Underground. When playing for England against Belgium in Italia 90, ridiculed Enzo Scifo as he lay on the ground clutching his leg. Gazza thought he wasplay-acting, so did a mime of his own which involved hopping on one leg with his tongue lolling out. His attempt to jet off to Libya with Middlesbrough for a post-season tour was hampered by the fact he'd left his passport at home. An emotional Gazza wept at the check-in desk until a minion was despatched to bring itto the airport. Celebrated his new-found hero status after flying home from Italia 90 by wearing a huge pair of fake plastic boobs and stomach bearing the legend'Gazza.' On meeting the president of Denmark's FA, pretended he could speak Danish. When invited to demonstrate, imitated The Muppet Show's Swedish Chef. Conned Five Bellies into eating a mince pie after he'd scraped out the filling and replaced it with cat excrement. Walked into the Middlesbrough canteen wearing nothing but his training socks and ordered lunch. Paid £320 for a Mars Bar in a newsagents in his home town of Dunston, then told the shop owner to spend the change on sweets for local kids. Whilst dining in the prestigious Bedford Arms Hotel in Woburn with a few of his Geordie mates, decided to place his erect member on the shoulder of a diner at the next table. Thinking someone had tapped him on theshoulder the gentleman turned his head only to have Gazza's helmet prod him in the cheek. Took a documentary team to a beautiful Scottish cottage which he informed them was his new place, pretended he'd forgotten his key and knocked instead. When the door opened, told the befuddled housewife inside that he was doing a telly advert and wanted to know if she preferred Daz or Omo. Crashed Middlesbrough's team bus at the club's training ground and caused £310,000 worth of damage. While at Rangers, urinated over sleeping team-mate Richard Gough. Handed £1000 over to Jimmy Five Bellies after betting that the burly boozer couldn't withstand a cigarette lighter's heat on the bridge of his nose for five seconds........Jimmy could. Twice. After briefly giving up drinking, was advised to find a new interest. Picked bingo. Bought a £1000 robot and programmed it to travel into Jimmy Five Bellies' room at Gazza Towers and announce: "Make a cup of tea, fat man." Was banned from Liverpool's Cream nightclub in advance within days of joining Everton, because the Evertonians who run the place wanted him to avoid temptation and stay fit. Prepared for England matches during that hugely important tournament by playing marathon games of tennis in the scorching midday sun. Thought it would be appropriate to wear a blue fright wig before the 1991 FA Cup Final. In his time, has agreed to dress as a Roman centurion, a clown, Oliver Hardy and Braveheart for photo opportunities. While his Italia 90 team-mate was the hero of Hillsborough, marched into a Sheffield barber shop and demanded "a Waddle cut." When Gazza signed for Spurs in 1988, he came down to finalise the deal with a bunch of his Geordie mates. They took over the posh hotel in Hadley Wood where Spurs were footing the bill and wreaked havoc. Gazza met then-chairman Irving Scholar and began talks by saying, "We'd like to thank you for the best three days of our lives" Was asked to leave West Lodge Park Hotel in London after guests were treated to the sight of a naked Five Bellies swimming across the duck pond. On his first night in Rome after signing for Lazio, gave his minder the slip, put his shoes by an open window and hid in a cupboard. The minder thought he'd committed suicide. Recorded a video message for a corporate party and signed off with a cheery "Happy Christmas, you f* **ing w** *ers." Greeted reporters in Rome by standing up, asking for silence, thenfarting at ear-splitting volume. Told an interviewer that he was so superstitious about the number 13 that he couldn't ever bear to see the numbers 4 and 9 together. Oddly, the combination of 5 and 8 was deemed OK. Shredded England team-mate Dennis Wise's Armani suit "for a laugh." While staying at a Scottish hotel, drove across its golf course in his four-wheel drive Jeep. While reputation preceded him in Italy, the English language did not. Hence, his Lazio debut was marked by a banner which read: 'Gazza's Boys,We Are Here. Shake Your Women And Drink Your Beer.' Conversely, rival Italian supporters once hailed him with a banner which stated bluntly: 'Paul Gazza, You Are Fat Poofta.' After being sent off while playing for Lazio, shook hands with virtually every member of the Genoa side. While staying in a New Zealand hotel, was told there was no bacon for breakfast. Replied, "What, all the sheep in this country and there's no bloody bacon!"
