Guest Toepoke
Good player, I've always detested him with a passion though which effects my judgement.
CPL
Good player, but for some reason I always remember him as being a vile, scream-at-the-ref type. I always remember THAT picture for some reason

johnnypd
only english player around with the close control, technique, movement and general intelligence to match the best foreign players. i disagree with whoever said he was shit in the last few years of international football, he was doing all the horse-work from deeper or wider positions for the likes of Gerrard and Lampard, midfielders who are full of end product but couldn't do the basic top class midfield play you'd get from scholes. he just wasn't given the chance to play behind the strikers and attack knock-ons like he did when shearer was still around so hit the headlines much less. i remember when Gerrard first broke into the england side, the team went something like 18 games unbeaten with scholes effectively playing the anchor role, i don't recall anyone saying two attacking midfielders couldnt play alongside each other then. even in euro 2004 he did the same job from the left flank. once he disappeared suddenly two attacking mids became a problem. the real issue tho wasn't that lampard and gerrard both attacked too much, it was that neither had the short passing, movement and silky ball skills that scholes had in abundance and as a result the side couldn't keep the ball to save their lives. now that he doesn't really have the energy to bomb upfield all the time and score regularly he is basically playing this same role for man utd. like m4tt says, big game player. who remembers his chip for rooney's goal vs milan last season? sublime. Guest neesy111
At club level yes, but in the last few years of his international career he was nothing short of appalling. england still miss him gerrard and lampard have got no where near the form scholes did for england around 2000 time, him and shearer we're a class act together

A class act both on nd off the pitch IMO Absolutely spot-on ; the only Man U player that I really respect because of his total professionalism. Made Dyer look really stupid when he took us to the cleaners at SJP after Dyer had claimed he deserved Scholes' England place.... would have been pleased for KK to sign him if he had been a couple of years younger. Tooj
I want Scholes to win this tonight, not either team, I just want Scholes during the game just to run off and grab the trophy and go for it.
