The player I misjudged most badly was Chris Waddle. He looked absolutely terrible when I first saw him, and I wondered how he'd ever been taken on as a professional, let alone got a place in the first team. And this was in the old Second Division. He was slow and lost the ball within a second of getting it every time. Honestly, if anyone had told me then that he was going to win 60 England caps, I'd have called for the men in the white coats.

I thought Allardyce would be here for a long time.

I thought Cacapa and Rozenhal would be excellent.

I thought Dyer was a good player at one point.
