David28
City want an emergency loan deal till the end of the season because of Given's injury. Can't understand that Given will be out now for those last 3 weeks. Don't think that dislocated shoulder is that bad, really. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/8644269.stm

STM
Depends on the extent. Some people can be fine the next day after dislocating their shoulder, others can be out for months. He looked in some pain yesterday like.

Guest geordienorway
It is, trust me. It depends on your ligaments. If it is the first time, he won't be able to use the shoulder 100% for a month or so. If he has done it a lot, he will probably be fine in a couple of weeks. Correct, but the healing time will decrease because the ligaments get more damaged the first time you do it. The chance of it to happen again increases though. I dislocated my shoulder twice within 2 months in 2008, and the second time hurt far more and took longer to heal for me.

Guest LukeT
Looked like a full anterior dislocation so it will be immobilized for at least 6 weeks, depending on how many times it has been dislocated before. The first time is the most painful, after that it gets easier as the socket is looser. Healing time depends on how many times it has been dislocated before and how much damage has been caused. If its the first time 6 weeks is about right because he's a 'keeper. In the shoulder socket theres a piece of cartilage called the labrum that helps secure it. If he's torn this he will need an operation as the shoulder will be very weak. Could be out for a few months in that case. The more dislocations that occur the more damage that is caused to the labrum.
