From what you've seen of him how would you rate him against Beardsley? I'd put the Zenit team in the same bracket as we were back in 92-94. Guest BigAl2 Posted June 24, 2008 Share Posted June 24, 2008 I think the Russian team after the dreadful start look very good with both fullbacks Anyukov & Zhirkov being excellent and Pavlyluchenko up front always willing to have a shot and get on the end of things, misses a fair quota but isn't scared to get in and have another go. Personally as good as he seems I wouldn't put him above Beardsley Can't really tell to be honest, I've hardly seen any Zenit games obviously and as good as he clearly is I can't make a fair judgement and comparison after a couple of Euro 2008 performances either. Personally as good as he seems I wouldn't put him above Beardsley Maybe that's why I am enthusing about Arshavin< Beardsley is my favourite Newcastle player of all time and the way they play the game is so similar, what I loved about Beardsley is that you could always see what he was trying to do even when it didn't come off and it was always positive. I love players that run at people and Bearsdley was fantastic at that, Beardsley's profile throughout the world was not helped by the european ban for club sides when he was in his pomp. Aye, but he was still head and shoulders above them from what I've seen, although the only full Brazil game I've seen is England vs Brazil 1970. One man team was the wrong way to put it.
