Summer 2008 Manager Thread - CHELSEA GET SCOLARI

Recommended Posts

So... bla bla bla..

ANCHESTER CITY last night overtook Chelsea in the race to land Mark Hughes.

SunSport can exclusively reveal Blackburn have been officially approached by City chiefs for permission to speak to their manager.

And Rovers are expected to give the go-ahead in an official statement today.

This will come as a major shock to Chelsea, who had Hughes high up on their shortlist to replace the axed Avram Grant.

It would leave the beaten Champions League finalists and Premier League runners-up desperately short of world-class candidates for their hotseat.

Hughes has already met with Rovers chairman John Williams, stating his intentions to leave the club for the challenge with City.Sven Goran Eriksson is expected to be officially sacked today — after less than a year in charge at Eastlands.

All that can stop City landing Hughes now is if Chelsea step in to try and grab their former player.

But Sparky does not wish to mess City around and both sides want the deal completed this week.

Williams already has Sam Allardyce at the top of his wanted list to replace Hughes.

and... then.. boring boring... boring... and hmm.. look at the last line there... Allardyce... to Blackburn? :kasper:

Hughes would be stupid to go to Man City, and if Allardyce went to Blackburn it would set them back a lot.

Disgraceful.

Had one summer to bring in a lot of new faces, and he did well. City's progress into Europe was fortunate with the Fair Play League, but he still signed a few quality players for them and had them playing good football in parts of the season.

Oh well. Interesting to see who they bring in to replace him.

Yeah because no one would want the Chelsea job would they. How stupid is the person that wrote this? If Mark Hughes was their top candidate then all the caviar must be going to Roman's head.

why would he go to city, aside from the huge transfer warchest he'd get, he could easily get a job at a much bigger club imo

Hughes has done ok but beyond the hype, I'm not sure he's cut out for a top team. Who's to say he won't turn out another Allardyce?

This is what I think.

He should stay with Blackburn. They gave him a great chance to establish himself and he's done well, he would be foolish to leave his safety net right now incase things go tits up at a top club.

He's got the chance to establish Blackburn in the UEFA Cup. He might be a bit annoyed with a lack of funds but he's shown himself more than capable of spotting a good bargain.

 - Sums it up without words.

Can't see many top managers wanting to make the move, unless they are absolutely certain of their ability. Top 6 will be the minimum Shinawatra will accept next season, I'm guessing, but the next manager will get a hefty transfer budget.

For Hughes, I think he should stay put at Blackburn for now.

am guessing he found some corrupt banker whoo agreed to lend him the banks money in return for `incentives`.  The bank will loan him money securedon    his assests, but the banker was `encouraged` to forget the matter that most of the assest are frozen!!

just aguess ofcourse!!

Can't understand it. He's worked a few seasons now to build the team he has now in Europe, and he's going to leave. Fair enough to Chelsea, as it's a significant step up.
