The 'develop and promote' policy seems more like 'stagnate and release' to me.

nailed - even ashley when he 'attempted' to start this under wise never actually had the fucking nouse to recruit the best coaches for handling youth players FIRST...what's the point in signing them if they're just gonna rot, as you say?

I think we've had respectable youth coaches over Ashley's reign, just no real setup and structure. The coaches have been capable, we've had some good results at youth level, though the way in which we deal with them when they get to a certain age is wrong. There is no real planning, just hope one of them brings himself through leaning on natural ability only.

It's like loaning them out is an afterthought while something we don't like doing. Imo it should all be about identifying young talent, mature them as young adults, train them hard and get them up to speed in youth and then reserve games. When this is done farm them out and have lower leagues invited to come and loan all of our prospects in return of first team football. Get them back in and see how close they are to the first team, if the need more games back out on loan. At this stage they either make it or they don't and they are sold on with addons, just like how Manu do it. They've not really produced any stand out candidates for their standards, but constantly churn out average Championship standard players sold on for a million or so keeping funds in the academy and also young careers knowing if they don't make it at Manu then there's a good chance someone else will have them and their experiences will stand them in good stead. We just release once we realise they've not been good enough, and that's usually because they get to 21 with only a handful of professional games under their belt, with their biggest development stage over.

This is just the business end of the academy that isn't working, god knows what's going on right from the bottom of age 10 etc...but again, it seems there's no real structure. Chopping and changing coaches isn't helping either for one reason or another.

You've read that somewhere. Can't think where from though.

Yep thought it was too astute a remark to be a Pilko original.

That kid is going to disappear out of football with no money if he doesn't curb his gambling.

Strengthening a rival? Hardly.

He wouldn't start for Blackpool, which is why he should be going to somewhere like Hartlepool or perhaps Leeds.

Aye, he's no Andy Cole, eh?

Of course he would start, Blackpool play 433. Dobie & Campbell have went back to there clubs. Taylor-Fletcher & Euell or more midfielders than strikers. He is better than Billy Clarke. Proably on proven ability because of experience Ormerod is ahead of him.  So they 1 striker imo better than him & they need 3 strikers.

yeah, if he goes out on loan then definitely not to anyone in the premier league. don't want him scoring goals for our rivals.

maybe send him to leeds or rangers, somewhere relatively local

Loan him to Forest

Agree with this.  He is a decent young player and we shouldn't let him anywhere near Blackpool (imagine him in the arcades!).  Somewhere like Leicester would be perfect
