Guest michaelfoster
There's been a few times this season where Ranger should have scored for example he was one on one with keeper against Arsenal in the CC and he hit it straight at him the keeper didnt even move. He really needs to improve his finishing as he is pretty awful at it although he is decent at everything else.
sparkzter
Ranger play in general has been poor imo. He is in desperate need of some coaching, problem is he thinks he is the man and has made it already. I cant think of any other prem team with a weaker strike force than us at the moment. ads
He should have buried that chance after Nolan's knock down. Ah that's unfair. He showed good awareness to anticipate Nolan's knockdown, good strength to turn the defender, and above all else, it was a top drawer save.
Guest firetotheworks
He was almost as horrible a striker last night as he is a person.

JH
No wonder players fail at this club Because people criticise them on message boards? I'd like to think that a player takes criticism and uses it as a way of improving. It's better than buttering them up, wrapping them in cotton wool and telling them that they're amazing and will come good eventually.
sparkzter
Ranger has to go out on loan next season, and for the whole season! The step up to the prem is too much for him at the moment. After a season away if he hasn't shown much improvement we will need to consider letting him go.
AyeDubbleYoo
We are always far too harsh on our young players (and players in general), especially if they're perceived to not be getting 'stuck in' enough. I haven't sat in enough home crowds of other teams to know whether it's any worse than any other club, but it can't help matters.

I agree - there appears to be no leeway given to them even though they are still learning the game I can still remember the stick Andy Carroll used to get (especially that match against City) if some people had their way he would have been shipped out on a free a long time ago Nile Ranger is unfortunate because he needs to be playing week in week out and he wont really get that here at this moment and people expect instant results
JH
Nile Ranger is unfortunate because he's not ready for this level and should be out on loan.

I still think he will score goals as he's getting chances but he desperately needs to get a goal under his belt to give him some confidence.

I honestly think a goal would do wonders to his confidence. He is capable of bagging a couple this season if he gets one soon.
The Prophet
No wonder players fail at this club Do elaborate. I don't really think there's much pressure on him, the crowd more or less give him their full support. I've said on numerous occasions I think he needs loaning out because as it stand I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest he's going to anything better than average. Minhosa
Needs a goal. Very poor last night and he's in tire need of someone taking him to one side and explaining how to maximise his strengths. I think there's something there though.
Mick
Think it's a cop out people blaming lack of service to him last night mind. Plenty of times the ball was fed up to him and the flick on was poor, his touch was off, his lay offs were misplaced, etc. Still at the stage of 'impact sub' for me, and thing we'd be better off with Nolan off Best or Lovenkrands and Best at the moment (Christ that's poor still). Do you not think he suffered from a lack of service? Also, who was around him to get on the end of the lay offs? The service was shite and you can't get away from that. Ranger had one chance all night and he made it out of nothing.
Skirge
Anyone know who Niles team was as a kid ? he a Spud or Gooder? He's a gooner isn't he Then offer Ian Wright Wright Wright a few quid to coach him one on one, he needs someone he will look upto, Wright is bound to be his hero. Guest Nikos34
For god's sake give the lad a break! He has never been given a chance. You can count the starts he's had on one hand! Nile should have been playing up top with Carroll long ago but sadly he's only ever going to have a stump up top with him now. Despite his infancy, he still looks the most dangerous striker we have. And he is only going to improve, where as Shola (bless him) will not. Lovenkrands is finished. You could argue Best hasn't had much time either but he shows absolutely no promise at all and more noticeably, he doesn't seem to care. All this criticism of Ranger is completely unfair. Get behind the kid because, like it or not, he is all we have right now. He is only 19 (3 years younger than Carroll) and the lad looks lively and he HAS got great potential. So let's not destroy him hey!

I think he does have potential, but at this moment he or any of our other strikers aren't good enough.

Revolution Number 9
I just had a conversation with an Arsenal fan on another forum who said he would be happy if we did a swap deal, Ranger for Vela. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_RaOrchOImw8/TAAvyDSAaFI/AAAAAAAAjYg/PyybIM1xDx4/s400/Gary+Colemam11.jpg

Obviously he has a lot of time ahead of him, but he has a lot of things to work on in his game.
Mick
He couldn't even hold the ball up. What has that got to do with what I posted? The service to the forwards was shite.
ikri
He couldn't even hold the ball up. If he can't hold the ball up shouldn't the team try to play to his strengths instead of his weaknesses? Asking him to hold the ball up whilst holding off experienced Premiership defenders most of whom will be much stronger & more experienced than him is an exercise in futility. But that's not his fault, that's how he's being played and he's totally unsuited to the role. Why not try playing to his strengths instead? Let him stay on the shoulder of the defenders & play balls in behind so he can use his pace to beat defenders instead of hoping that he can play in the same way as much more experienced players like Shola.
