Not even a tenuous source here, but its a great rumour all the same.

Was speaking to a couple of colleagues who have been in London last week (not my boss who tenuously knows Ashley) and they spent a night in the casinos.

Anyway, they claim that there was a buzz around one of the tables that Ashley has offered to take Berbatov on loan to get him out of Spurs but away from ManU.

Would be the sort of banter I could imagine between MA and PK and the best rumour I've heard all summer!

(It(k) would never happpen and I doubt its more than drunken poker banter but thought I'd post it anyway) >:D

I would never want a player at St James' that didn't really want to be there, Berbatov seems to have his heart set on a move to Man Utd and anything else would be second best............

Would be a bad move for us in my opinion although I do know that he is supposed to have a soft spot for NUFC.  Who knows what is going on behind the scenes really?

Berbatov's attitude was exactly the same last year when we beat Spurs 3-1 at home and he sat sulking on the bench - not long before Martin Jol left.

Talented player - lousy attitude, I'd rather not have him.

Anyone old enough may remember a certain Terry MacDermott doing exactly the same to us back in the 70s when he had his heart set on a move to Liverpool. Treat us like sh** despite making his name here.

Berbatov at Tottenham:

1. For the club, they are paying him wages but not using him, would be a big waste of money and it can be better spent elsewhere

2. For the player, not playing a single game for the entire season, will he be happy? I guess not.

Berbatov to Manchester United:

1. Strengthen Manchester United Squad (There is no denial that he is a decent player at the very least)

2. Scupper Tottenham's attempt at overtaking one of the big 4 (If that is what Tottenham intended)

Berbatov to Newcastle United:

1. From a realistic point of view, it does not matter if he does not love the club, what is important is he can perform

Loving the club, wanting to be here permanently is a bonus I guess

Otherwise, in this mercenary market today, it is not a big deal.

Surely not all our players are here because they genuinely want to be a newcastle united player for life... or they love us to bit

    -  They are here either due to high wages, old-age, lack of better options or using us as a stepping stone etc (What else?)

    -  That reminds me of Shearer (I kinda salute him because he must have plenty of options to choose from at his peak and yet he chose us

and remained loyal to us till he retired) --> but such players are rare nowadays.

2. It is far better than his current situation at Tottenham (unless the situation improves of course - Like a Barry U-Turn?)

Ideal situation for Tottenham:

-  Patch back is the most ideal situation (cannot see it happening at the moment)

-  Otherwise, sell Berbatov but not to an EPL club

Is there any way we can get this onto NewsNow or similar?

Would love to see if we could get this onto SSN or some gossip roundup

I'd suspect it's just to send a tip to Alan Oliver/Lee Ryder with a fake name saying you're itk and that you know Berbatov might come to Newcastle instead of Manchester United, throw in the image of Berbatov with the Newcastle shirt as well and claim he's a die hard fan.

Surely I'd have to quote that sources close to me have suggested....
