Kimbo
Why shouldn't Milner be on an equal pay to Taylor/N'Zogbia? Who says he isn't on equal pay? I remember when he signed a new contract people were saying he was on 30k. And mainly, Why has the club released todays statement, a week after the actual events? To get other clubs interested and try to start a bidding war.
Liam Liam Liam O
a premiership winger gives premiership full-backs problems the last time I checked. He's without doubt the least gifted winger i've ever seen in a nufc shirt. No pace, no final ball, poor passing, no intelligence. Robson was on a roll when he described Ambrose, O'brien and Milner as 'fantastic young talent'. Talent my left f***ing nut I don't rate him, but that's a load of shite. stozo
I really don't see why the club released the statement. It does nothing to help the situation, especially if he ends up having to stay.
Syrette
He's without doubt the least gifted winger i've ever seen in a nufc shirt. You've clearly not supported us for very long at all then. And/or you're just doing your usual exaggerating.
Dave
Well lets hope we don't boo him on saturday if he does play a part. I know he's wrong but that would only affect his performance and ours as a whole Kinda glad we're away tbh. SJP booing him would be embarrassing. Cajun
Liam Liam Liam, If Keegan rates him so highly and O'neil is prepared to pay up to £10m fro him, he should direct any anger you may have at the idiots running the club prerpared to sell someone who will be in the Engalnd squad this season, and not at him, you just sound, and make is all sound like idiots. England squad? Based on what? Milner has done absolutely nothing over the last 12 months to warrant a pay rise. Fact is, our form improved when he was out of the team towards the end of last season. england squad my prick. He's a f***ing championship player Yep I bet he signs for a championship club. Idiot. embarrassing mate, get it sorted a premiership winger gives premiership full-backs problems the last time I checked. He's without doubt the least gifted winger i've ever seen in a nufc shirt. Didn't you rate Bramble though? I bet you £500 Milner goes on to be a more succesful player than Bramble.

It does nothing to help the situation, especially if he ends up having to stay. Might help us shift him? Once we circulated his availability, someone at another club would let the press know. Its common sense really.
Guest The Corner
this, and i would love to hear the clubs reasons for telling us he handed in a transfer request 7 days after he actually did Why shouldn't they? Why not do it straight away ? Instead of after a decent performance against coventry, after the manager had sang his praises live on sky Because there was a meeting today discussing Milner and maybe we thought we'd be able to resolve it with a new contract? Nothing's happened, so now we've made it public. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. i wasnt necessarily saying there was anything wrong with it, just wondering what factors led to us deciding to release the statement. The point you say may well be true
Cajun
Maybe we have got his replacement lined up and want him off the books first? He hands in the request, we don't really want rid but will respect his decision, get the replacement sorted first then let the interested parties know he is now available. heero
Still wouldnt suprise me if he ends up signing a new contract with us. he wants more money he says, says he's gotten better and wants to be payed accordingly, i think that is what its all about, more money The Professional Footballers' Association, who represent James Milner, have come out in defence of the midfielder after he requested a move away from Newcastle. The Magpies revealed early on Wednesday that Milner has asked for a transfer - which they are now considering. However, PFA chief executive Mick McGuire has defended the player and insists Milner only ever wanted a new deal at the club. "The PFA, who represent James Milner, are disappointed that information regarding his request for a move, and the circumstances surrounding it, have come to the public's attention, and we feel we have no option but to respond," said a statement from McGuire. "The facts are that James' transfer request was actually handed in on Wednesday, August 20, at which point it was asked by Newcastle to keep the matter private. "The request was given because the player was looking for an improvement on his contract that reflected his development and his value to the club. "There was a meeting between the owner and all relevant people at the club today when we believed James' request was to be discussed." McGuire insists that Milner just wants to be rewarded for his progress over the last year. "To clarify the situation, James did sign a contract 12 months ago," he continued. "However, this agreement was reached with the club nearly 12 months previous at the point at which Newcastle had agreed to sell James to Aston Villa on transfer deadline day 2006 before cancelling the agreement at the 11th hour. "Since then he has played over 80 games for Newcastle. All James wanted was a deal that reflected his development and that was in line with Newcastle's transfer valuation of him. "Whilst James does have three years left on his current agreement, it is common practice that when a young player signs a long-term contract, this is reviewed and improved on a regular basis with a player's development, but equally it protects the club's position in regard to their transfer value. "Although the transfer request was handed in seven days ago, James has been professional in keeping the matter private whilst giving strong performances for Newcastle." Aston Villa, Everton and Liverpool are all now being tipped to make a bid for the England Under 21 international before next week's transfer deadline. brummie
I really don't see why the club released the statement. It does nothing to help the situation, especially if he ends up having to stay. Jon, I know these are tough times but hey I am sure with the extra 10 hours+ a week saved in defending & confessing your love for J.Milner on the net can be put better use. Match.com FAO Ronaldo - Your such a whiner I have stopped taking you seriously. I am surprised you haven't got a bit of Shearer bashing in this thread as of yet.
