And when he doesn't bring back KK, how are people going to react?

He'd be mental to do so, by the way.

Yes i think it could go tits up if KK came back just a gut feeling and he would be tarnished forever .

Keegan has been messed around by two different regimes now; he could come back and end up in another conflict and end up walking out for a third time. No doubt he loves the club but would he really want to put himself and us through that again?

Maybe he just needs to move on from NUFC.

Why? Would you have sacked Keegan after the Arsenal game?

No, I wouldn't have, no-one would, that's why it didn't happen.

He'd be mental to appoint KK because he would never ever be able to do anything that Keegan didn't approve of, because if he upset the messiah then... ...well we've all seen what happens then. Why would anyone in their right mind take that kind of risk?

Yeah and NUFC definitely needs to move on from him, I didn't want him to go, but now that he has and we've seen the damage it's done to the club it would be far too dangerous for anyone to bring him back.

"Our position is that nothing has changed and we have been wondering why these stories keep surfacing in England," a spokesman for Ambani told The Daily Telegraph.

"We have not expressed interest in Newcastle. There is nothing in the latest stories. It's a non-starter. As of now there is no interest, although I cannot speculate on what may be the future plans of my management."

We have some dealings with Reliance out here in Asia, and all the talk today, from them, is that they're putting forward a bid today (Monday)..

Any truth in it .. we'll have to see.. MA has to accept the bid anyway.. so who knows..

Can you provide more details? A  one liner is of no use and how reliable is your source. Suddenly Singapore has come to the forefront with Profitable Group and now Ambani thru a Singapore source. Go on lad, tell us what else did the Singaporean Taxi driver tell you? :shifty:

Not being an employee of Reliance and just an associate via work, i've no other info. We asked one of our contacts with them what the inside info was, he was adamant something is happening on monday, with a call and a bid coming Ashleys way if they think he will be receptive.

At this time, no further info. As regards Profitable group, me and the rest of the SG mags dislike them severely, a dodgie land bank group that used to be called Profitable Plots, selling plots of land in the UK as investment. They've been stung by the credit crunch and have no finance of their own, plus with Steve McMahon in their midst, a regular pundit on ESPN here full of "when i was at Pool" rot, all the Geordies here and the local NUFC fans think theyre a bunch of w@nkers. Theyre headed by a Geordie, but having had a fan club here since 2001 we've never come across him, so dont think he's the real thing.

Quite simply he shouldn't because jduging from current reaction, Keagen has become bigger than the club.

Not coming down to the local fan club doesn't mean he's not the real deal. Frankly, local fan clubs are just another reason for gathering to drinks and shout mutual abuse at common enemies  ;D so I won't read too much into it.

As long as someone else buys out MA and group, I'm behind them.

TOON LINED UP FOR INDIAN TAKEAWAY

Monday September 8,2008

By Niall Hickman

ANIL AMBANI’S Reliance Group will fly in today with their sights firmly set on taking over a leading Premier League club – and crisis-torn Newcastle United are top of their hit-list.

Indian tycoon Ambani, who has a personal fortune of £21billion, can easily afford to buy out current Magpies owner Mike Ashley, now a reviled figure on Tyneside following Kevin Keegan’s departure last week.

But Ambani will have to be quick as another branch of the Abu Dhabi royal family are desperate to get their hands on a Premier League club, having seen Abu Dhabi United acquire Manchester City.

Ambani was offered control of Newcastle last month but baulked at Ashley’s £400million asking price. However another bid could prove successful following Keegan’s shock resignation.

Ashley is now in a position of weakness, knowing he cannot appear on Tyneside in the current climate, at least not without a police escort.

On Saturday evening Newcastle issued a statement contradicting Keegan’s claims about the degree of executive director of football Dennis Wise’s involvement in transfers. The club insisted Keegan still retained the final say on all ins and outs at St James’ Park, but he and his advisers have rubbished that suggestion.

“At the time I joined Newcastle United Football Club it was made very clear to me that I would have the final say on player movement in and out of the club,” said Keegan.

He was quickly to find that this was not forthcoming – and when he found his authority gradually diluted by Wise and it became clear he was not going to be allowed to manage in the way he wanted, Keegan resigned.

League Managers’ Association chief executive Richard Bevan said: “Kevin Keegan’s chief complaint is that it was always agreed the director of football could not impose a player that the manager did not want.

“This agreement has been broken, notwithstanding the fact that the chairman – at the time of Kevin’s appointment – and the director of football and owner of Newcastle United, in public meetings and publications, confirmed that he would always have the final say.”

This escalating war of words will only serve to underline the belief that Newcastle is a footballing snakepit, which will only be stabilised by Ashley’s departure.

Despite their protestations of innocence, Ashley and his board are thoroughly discredited and their reaction to Keegan’s resignation has been predictable. They have blamed him for everything barring the weather.

But Keegan’s close relationship with the Geordie public means the fans want blood and will not rest until Ashley has been drummed out of town. Newcastle players have, to a man, expressed outrage over the way Keegan has been treated as the club have lurched into crisis.

Goalkeeper Shay Given, who was away on World Cup qualifying duty with the Republic of Ireland while events unfolded, said: “There is turmoil at the moment, obviously, but we would like to get the club back on track and going in the right direction.

“It has all been a shock. Kevin Keegan is a great manager and a great bloke and he will definitely be missed by the players and the fans. It’s not for me to say what should happen with the owner. We all want the club to move forward and hopefully we will do that.”

Other players have spoken of their willingness to leave in the next transfer window, so appalled are they by last week’s events. One said: “The fact that the club were willing to listen to offers for the whole first team says it all. There is a feeling that we should all leave if that is the state of ambition at Newcastle, a fantastic club in all other respects and with a phenomenal support base.”

Disgruntled Magpies fans are considering a boycott of Saturday’s Premier League clash at home to Hull and some are even talking of creating a new football club based around the FC United model in Manchester which was formed by disaffected Old Trafford regulars who were hostile to the Glazer family takeover.

Other clubs in the locality could cash in, too. Bob Morton, chairman of Unibond League side Newcastle Blue Star, said: “I have had quite a few fans ringing up and saying they are angry with the situation at Newcastle United.

“We would be delighted to welcome any supporters who want to come and watch us any time, starting with Shildon in the FA Cup on Friday.”

Well us expats read a bit more into it, the club is a small corner of the toon in a far off land  :coolsmiley: , only a very few dont bother with it..

Re Reliance, they also said any bid would be by the man himself and not the group. And as regards outa the frying pan into the fire, aye, wads of $$ but a tough task master this Ambani, uses people left right and centre. Not known for being very sympathetic.

re Profitable Group, they were never in the running, so forget them, theyre broke.

I was commenting on the "possible takeover" by Profitable group. Their ads make me cringe, and I see them at almost every single half time break.

Maybe they'll takeover and pile their debt on us ala Glazers? (to be fair I'm not a finance person, so I won't understand the details on how that happens)

Big investors turn backs on Magpies

Sep 8 2008 by Stuart Rayner, The Journal

THE best hope of bringing Kevin Keegan to St James’s Park for a fourth time appears to be fading after a spokesman for the Indian billionaire reportedly interested in buying Newcastle United and reinstating the 57-year-old as manager poured cold water on a deal.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley wants to flog club to follow Hollywood dream

By Danielle Lawler And Jeremy Armstrong 8/09/2008

Mike Ashley (PA)

Newcastle soccer boss Mike Ashley wants to flog the crisis club - to become a Hollywood movie mogul.

Billionaire Mr Ashley, 45, has spent the past week in the US wining and dining film executives.

And he has told pals he is willing to "sell Newcastle tomorrow" if he finds a £250million buyer - and then amazingly wants his own movie studio.

A source close to the Toon tycoon said: "He's fallen in love with Hollywood and this is something he has been pursuing for more than a year.

"Mike has spent a week speaking to very important movie executives in New York and Miami and is ready to invest.

"He has so much money he is looking to buy his own Paramount Pictures.

He still loves Newcastle but if someone came in with a decent offer to buy him out tomorrow he would sell up."

It would prove merely the latest in a series of bizarre developments in the topsy-turvy world of Newcastle United.

But the under-fire sportswear mogul is apparently hellbent on fulfilling his unlikely ambition.

One of the bigwigs he has met is movie director Mike Jefferies - who wrote Goal 3, the Newcastle-set soccer drama in which Mr Ashley has a cameo role as himself.

The soccer tycoon has ploughed some of his own money into the movie.

And the Newcastle insider added: "Mike and Jefferies have a long standing relationship.

"He asked Jefferies to introduce him to his contacts in the industry so he would be able to put feelers out.

"Mike has thrown a few parties and had meetings to show he means business.

So, MA wanted to finance his movie with these sales... ;-) Seems like he's found another thing "to play with". Probably better. Sell on Mikey!!!

Haven't .com made a mistake there? I'm pretty sure that's a quote from Reliance, not for Ambani himself. Maybe wrong, mind.
