What exactly has Dennis Wise done wrong?

What he has done, and it is well documented that Wise is responsible for bringing in and shipping out players, is he has alowed us to start a new season with only 20 recognised first team players (including the players he has brought in).

Show me one team that has finished in the top 12 of the prem over the last 5 years that has only 20 first team players, thats less than 2 players per position.  That is not only lack of competition but a lack of cover.

Out of those 20, 10 are currently injured or banned.

Malcom Macdonald, has told this story a few times.

That kk was told to wait in his office for Wise. That wise kept him waiting for ages, then barged into his office and laid the law down to him, in an agressive manner, he would never accept anyone speaking to himself. Spoke to kk like he was a fool

Macdonald, challenged the club to deny this, or libel him for saying it.....they didnt ...so...

If Malcolm said it, then it must be true

But was Wise ultimately responsible? From the way I read what KK put out, it was Jimenez who pulled out of the Schweinsteiger deal (and therefore the one responsible for creating the tipping point). This would suggest that Wise was indeed less influential than some say, would it not?

At which point KK cracks the shits (not unreasonably) - and even then it would have been Llambias or Jimenez that took what control KK had and gave it all to Wise. (By which time all Wise could produce was Xisco and Gonzalez)

Someone seems to be suggesting that Wise might be the "inside source" which is indeed a black mark. Unless that was also part of his remit...

Has he brought in any good players? Was it Wise who brought them in or was it Tony Jimenez?

No one outside the NUFC board really knows what Wise does. He is said to bring youth in. Did he get Ranger?

If Wise did have more of a say than Keegan in the buying and selling of players why? Why is Dennis Wise considered to have football knowledge superior to Kevin Keegan?

But then how many scouts have brought shite into this club. If we work on the theory of hes brought all the youth in hes done a decent job a lot better than some. Most hte stems from the man not the work.

True.

A Chelsea legend and despised on Tyneside. It was always going to be difficult for him.

Net result however is he was doing a decent job in his scouting role but once the sh*t hit the fan he was an easy figure for the angry mob to vent their vitriol on.

We don't know the full story and probably never will. With regard to his scouting and player acquisitions; he wasn't doing too badly but we will never know if it was he who overrode Keegans authority or whether the new chairman llambias was the main instigator.

We can't really blame him until it goes to court and the beans are well and truly spilled...

Has he? How are the reserves doing? Could some of his starlets not fill in some of the positions the threadbare squad can't cover?

It seems that the ideal way to run the club would be to give out absolutely no information about who does what (ideally, don't even let anyone know who the people employed are), then when things go wrong noone can be blamed; and if noone's to blame for anything then how can there be a problem?

Thank fuck for that, I thought we were in the shit.

And we will also never know how many potential Wise/Llambias signings Keegan himself blocked.

By the sounds of things there was some kind of power struggle going on at the end, so it's not infeasible that they were all vetoing each others potential signings just to make a point and consequently we didn't get in the couple of extra players that we needed.

Are people blaming Wise for Owen's contract? Is he the new chairman?

Wicked.

Agree with you. He hasn't been KK thats all i can see - and he's a cockney. Pathetic actually. Time the "Cockney Mafia" pillocks started to use THEIR brains (if they have one that is) not the "brain" of mob instinct

Really poor choice as DOF although he is not DOF but a ED(F). Most DOF or Sporting Directors do the numbers for players contrats & fee's to buy & sell players, but TJ is doing that. Most DOF are the main scout as well but Dennis had Jeff as that & Jeff has a chief scout under him. Dennis was the wrong man as far I am concerned, we should of got a person who has done this role for years.

You cant really blame Dennis for accepting the gig, pay rise, based where he lives, no fannying around in training & nice day outs around Europe.

The whole thing was always going to implode why the fuck did Keegan have a list of players he wanted ffs? KK produces list, ED(F) thinks it is shit & signs none =.....well we know how it ends up. Did someone think to keep Kev on side we will get Kev to hand a list of players he wants to the ED(F). All Keegan should of been allowed to do is suggest the type of players he wants & then club go out & try to provide them players.

Saint Mort should be absorbing some of blame Mike Ashley is getting for a system that had the wrong characters in for it to work. Mort appointing one bloke as Vice President (Player Recruitment) & then saying is part time is just shite really. Does a down to earth easy on the ear interview though.

Tbh. It boils down to more shite PR from our man Mike.

If you asked most people what they thought of Dennis Wise, they'd say naughty words. Kind of guy you could push down the stairs and not feel guilty in the hospital. When you have a manager who is Kevin Keegan, a man loved by all toon fans, and admired across the region, never pays for a drink on a night out, could shag anyones wife or shit in anyones sink without fear of retribution, you under no circumstances put in place someone who is seen as a knob above or around him.

Its for the sole reason that should things go pear shaped the unlucky knob will get the lionshare of the blame. It doesn't matter if Keegan was trying to push through a deal for Thierry Henry at £40 M and Wise was trying to get Santa Cruz for £15m and Skjelbred for £4m. 90% of fans won't know or look at that, they took it purely on an appearnce level, ones "The Messiah" ones "A very naughty boy".

It just highlighted why the guy shouldn't have bought us, he works in Sports retail not Sports Club Ownership. When you have a club you have to run it like a Political party, the head of house has to look in order, and you can't have stories coming out every other day that destroy the image of your club and are bad PR events.

If we take Wise as "Mr X" and Keegan as "My Y" you would arguably say with the facts in front of you that (In this instance and the summer just gone) Mr X was more beneficial to our club than Mr Y, the problem is however few will every truly admit that as the are subjective with their love for Keegan.
