[.............. to be replaced by a bigger problem no doubt.

The pie boycotters have taken over the asylum.

Well, that's a point that was also discussed. What stance should NUSC take on the new owners (whoever they may be)?  That the new owners may be no better than Ashley, or (heaven help us) even worse was recognised. Basically, the stance taken is  a 'guarded welcome' in that if they are here to genuinely build the club up then NUSC welcomes them, but if they're just aboput exploiting the club/supporters, obviously NUSC is going to be critical.

Well I'm sure Greggs and the Irish Bar so far have appreciated their coffers being boosted at the expense of the football club, it seems strange though that you only offer "guarded welcome" to those who will invest big money in Newcastle United rather than feed off it.

Greggs is a big business with local roots, why can't they organise a local consortium to buy the club?

Because everyone'll boycott their pies if a popular manager resigns.

just post all meeting info on here. there's no reason not too if everyone is welcome at the meetings.

OK.

The main points:

Does NUSC join Supporters Direct, which can offer government funding. The problem being that Supporters Direct requires that groups who want funding aspire for representation on their club's board. There's still a bit of debate as to whether NUSC is to aspire to that or not. Nothing has been ruled out though.

Honorary Memeberships: Several names discussed. Some people unsure about awarding them to KK and Shearer as it might be something the media can have a go at us for. SBR to be awarded Membership no.1

An NUSC Bank account is to be set up

A secretary has been appointed as have people to undertake admin and extra press contacts.

Merchandising will be looked into, what sort of stuff would be feasible. There have been no decisions made as yet. It's at an exploring/researching stage.

What will membership fees be used for? At the minute, it's pretty much to get the thing up and running and for printing costs etc But it's going to be looked into how the money could be used, and what members can be offered in return. This will be displayed in the website.

Again, on going protests - more leaflets/newsletters, demos etc. The possibility of contacting sponsors at NUFC will be looked at to see if they (or at least some) will support us. Ashley's business management (which has been lambasted in business/econnomic circles) will be highlighted.

I should say that a lot of the stuff is looking at what could be done, and having people investigate further and report back their findings.

right. so if I'm against the NUSC's anti-Ashley measures, I'm to understand that to be a member of this "save our future" supporters club, i'm to pay 10 quid, which will be used to print anti-Ashley drivel on leaflets and banners?

no thanks. i'd rather re-new my subscription with the Mickey Mouse club

So they've decided on a 'stance' before the club is sold to a party they don't even know?

f*** me.

Says it all really.

That's in the rules/mission statement you posted earlier, so it looks like it has been decided.

NUSC has my support because it stated that it wanted to change the national perception of NUFC supporters, not because it wanted to continue a pointless campaign that has already acheived its objectives.

The never-ending cycle of partisan support for outgoing/incoming owners continues, guaranteeing further divisions amongst the support just like over the past 40 years.

Unbelievable really. :(

The way I basically see it is - we can only achieve negative and harmful outcomes by the sort of emotional reaction that we've seen in last few weeks, both for the actual position of the club and the reputation of the fans.

So the only way we can do any good is to just support whoever is here, or keep quiet. Yes, that means being 'shitted on' once in a while, but there's no other way.

More protests?!

Embarrassing tbh. :buck2:

Ageed. 100-fucking-%.

Ashley has already declared he's fucking off. Nice to see NUSC are being responsible with the money they've taken off people and are throwing into a battle they've already won.

...also, in regards to the next owner(s), if they aren't what you wanted are you going to run them out of town, too? Where will that leave us? Will that make us an attractive prospect to anyone thinking of investing?

I really don't think anyone has thought any of this through.

Rebels without a cause. Fucking disgrace, the lot of you.

run them out of town, too?

Big Mike ran at the first sign of trouble, he was not ran out of town. I guess it is hard 1 minute your getting pats on the back, getting praise for mixing with the fans in the pubs & stands, posing for pictures & then your getting called a fat cockney cunt. What we are seeing now is a huffy billionaire. Maybe he should of buzzed the Glazers or Hicks & Gillett & get an idea how to not to let fan pressure get to you but they never chased as hard to be loved by the fans (apart from them cowboy boots) so being disliked/hated is no big deal for them. He wilted before our eyes, even Shepherd, Mckeag & Seymour lasted years having fans anger thrown at them, he lasted about a week ffs.  Strong leader though......

His mate Sir Alan Sugar could of warned him football fans are like no other customer but due diligence was never Mike's strong point.

Hang on - are those against it suggesting that we/they should give up the right to judge an/or protest against any future owner based on the fact that it might have been wrong to protest against Ashley?

The whole point as I understand it is to organise fan opinion (good and bad) - or do you want a fanbase of sheep who bend over and take it no matter what?

Was anything said at all about supporting the players?

Been very dissapointed that area has been omitted from previous statements to be honest.

James man have a word. Most Newcastle fans who turn up at games go there to support the team, they dont need NUSC a club most fans are not in to tell them this.

  They haven't said anything about remembering your ticket when you leave the house either.  And I for one am fucking furious at this omission.

I am not sure if you meant to be funny with that post, I hope you are then it can be classed as not being funny, anything else & it is tragic.

I noticed the bloke who sells the badges outside the Irish bar looks minted been living off the back of the club for years. BURN HIM!!!

The first sign of trouble? There was a week of protests. He bought Newcastle as something to enjoy, to sit in the stands as a fan, and wasn't able to do so anymore (the other owners you mentioned are in it asa business venture). He might have upped and left a little too easily - I don't dispute that - but why were these people calling for him to piss off in the first place? It's just backwards. And this "keeping up the pressure" approach just leaves me baffled. What if the next owner makes an unpopular move? Nigerian Mafia Out? ... why were they protesting to get rid of Ashley & co? Surely if they wanted Keegan back they should have been protesting for that. It's just purely destructive the way everything has been handled. Mindless mindlessness.

You believe the PR he bought it to enjoy. He did not put all these people in high places for his "enjoyment", he put them there to run it as business. He is just like Sir John Hall another man of people who kidded us with his words. The keeping up pressure has me confused as well, he cant do much more than dispose of it as quick as he is doing as the banks wont be willing to loan mega money out to people/companies who want to buy NUFC.
