"Newcastle in talks with manchester city over micheal johnson"- Setanta sports news sources.

Everything has indicated that this deal could happen, apart from that guy on SSN who said that they don't want to sell. Time will tell.

City are taking the piss a bit if you ask me. Johnson's barely played a game so far this season and with that and his drinking problem £8 mill's a pretty generous offer. Not to mention they've just signed De Jong and will probably buy 7 more £10mill+ midfielders in the summer. FFS

Well if it's a case of us mentioning after the Shay deal about Johnson then what a right set of f***ing idiots we have at our club.

Not sure on Johnson, is he even fit yet?

More fit than Butt.

This window has been shocking so far selling our best players and bringing in players who have not had a good game in over 2 years, so depressing.

This Fox guy sounds a world beater.

Moan, moan, moan.....

JOE Kinnear is hoping to tie up a transfer deadline day deal for left-back Daniel Fox.

Newcastle United were today understood to be in talks with the 22-year-old's club, Coventry City.

The former England Under-21 international, who started his career at Everton, joined Coventry a year ago from Walsall, and is rated in the £1m-bracket.

Fox played under Newcastle's Academy director Richard Money during his three years at the Bescott Stadium.

Kinnear was also hoping to rubber-stamp right-back Ryan Taylor's move from Wigan Athletic, with the deal hinging on Charles N'Zogbia's move the other way.

Meanwhile, Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson was again linked with a switch to United.

Why on EARTH would we ever wait so long to try to do these sort of deals (whether they are half-decent players or not is another matter).  What is wrong with January 1st or January 2nd? (rather than February 1st or February 2nd)???

Maybe these guys were not first choice targets ;)

Yep, they may as well ditch the window if they keep changing the dead line.

I hope I'm wrong, but this just feels like all the previous shit transfer window deadline days, certainly with people (including myself) clinging on to the hope of some decent players be bought. However this time I'm mentally prepared for us getting fuck all, so that anything would be a bonus.

The same reason it happens for everyone. It's the way the market works.

Just like eBay - no-one bids (makes a move) till the last minute, hoping to be the only ones bidding for the item/player!
