The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

Recommended Posts

So 2 players who didn't want to be here have been sold.

Nolan, Taylor and Lovenkrands have been brought in. We also had a big bid in for Johnson but City rejected it. We sniffed around Veloso but didn't actually make a bid. Is that about the gist of our dealings?  ???

I doubt he's pocketing the money, he's just taking a huge, huge gamble that the shite we've got now is enough to stay up. He's trying to balance the books by investing nothing in the short term.

If the gamble pays off then nothing less than a complete overhaul of the squad and management in the summer is acceptable.

Taylor > Duff

Nolan > Geremi

Could have been worse, could have been better.

is Taylor better than Duff on the wing? he certainly isn't better than N'zogbia. Horrible window yet again

Really..a player from Bolton and one from wigan?? Shows how low our expectations are..buying off clubs around us..

Yep should have signed Lampard and Ronaldo.

No one's asked for massive signings FFS

Just an improvement on our squad

I think we have done that.

we have. but most people made their minds up months ago that we havent.

Nope, I think most rational people are thinking that being 1 player up isnt improvement enough when you have 10 players out injured. Especially when two of those are injury prone and at the same time we've sold one of the best keepers in the world for fuck all. This aint no kneejerk, this is fully justified anger.

What a bunch of fucking morons. We haven't a clue what bids we made, who we held talks with, who we may still be holding talks with and yet people still pour themselves over these media sites expecting the God's honest truth. Selective reading at its very best my friends.

For all we know we're still working on deals behind the scenes, we might not, we haven't a fucking clue. Look at the summer for an indication of how unpredictable we are in the market.

But at the end of the day if we haven't strengthened the team any further, it's a bit like yesterdays result. It doesn't put us any closer to the drop but it doesn't really help either. We are still well capable of staying up, it isn't the end of the world man.

It will fall on deaf ears to these transfer whores.

Huge risk then.

Shy of a very big post-deadline surprise, this month-planned statement is going to be immense.

When can we expect this fine piece of propoganda?

I think everyone involved has proved themselves to be incompetent wasters, with no real nouse of how to run the club properly. That includes Kinnear, who is the main one to have scuppered any signings. If he'd never opened his mouth we might have had a couple of signings by half-way, but no - he divulged every grain of information on who we were going for, when we were going for them, and how much money we had. Failure was to be expected. They're a joke.

That said, i don't think it's a major issue. Nothing to slit wrists over - we've brought in a couple of average joes who have improved the side ever so slightly, imo. Not a great deal, but when you consider we may have been stuck with Geremi/Edgar/Duff week-in, week-out had we not signed Nolan and Taylor... we've avoided a really bad situation, just.

The incompetence of the guys at the top can't be ignored, but our situation hasn't changed a massive amount, and it's not as if this shit club was ever going to attract really good players.
