West Brom (H) pre match thread

Recommended Posts

The warning signs shouldn't apply.  Forget expectations of the supporters, omens or the media.  This is a question of professional pride.  If the players have anything about them...any sort of balls at all....they will win this comfortably.  End of.  You do not lose the derby and then fail to beat West Brom at home.  You do not do that.  They don't deserve supporting if they manage that.

I don't think it is too much of a stretch to say the season is now on the line.  If they can't rise to the occasion, then they never will.

Jesus christ, didn't even realise - we've let in at least two goals in each of our last NINE matches. :kasper:

That's fucking dismal.

And to be totally honest, our defence hasn't been too bad.

When you've got such an incapable midfield you're going to concede goals. Invites far too much pressure on the defence and they just can't deal with it.

s***, just seen the warning signs in .com's pre-match blurb.

Opposition having trouble scoring goals? Check.

Opposition only scored one away from home? Check.

Opposition forwards without a single goal to their name yet? Check.

Player we were linked with coming up to face us? Check.

Goalkeeper who kept a clean sheet on his last visit? Check.

On telly for the world to see? Check.

Must-win game? Check.

An accident waiting to happen...

Are you going?

Touché.

3-0 win then.

Who are you refering to?

Too true, we just can't continue with such a pedestrian midefield. Hopefully the return of Jonas and Barton will help with that.

It also doesn't help when you've got the strikers giving the ball away repeatedly too. Ameobi did okay for the first-half holding the ball up on Saturday, but pretty much everytime the ball went to Martins, he lost it and we're back under pressure.

only plus point is that at least we are scoring the odd goal every game..problem is we are needing too score at least 2 per game to get a point the way its going!!

Jonas in centre midfield? Erm no thanks.

Oddly enough Butt getting injured is an amazing bit of luck, fills me with confidence going into todays game. I firmly believe Guthrie and Barton to be the best CM's at the club. With Jonas back we will create chances as he opens games up.

Beye Taylor Coloccini Bassong

Geremi Barton Guthrie Jonas

Martins Ameobi

Bring on Duff for Geremi at half time, and Xisco when Shola tires.

As much as i agree with your assesment, we know JK will pick Duff. However, i think Jonas will start.

Aye me too, shame because Geremi hasn't done a great deal wrong. If he had pace........

I'd have Duff over Geremi on the wing, but I'd have Geremi over both Butt & Guthrie in midfield. Never going to happen though.
