DJ_NUFC
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=586366&sec=europe&cc=5901 MILAN, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino has been banned for two matches for scoring a goal with his arm in Sunday's 3-1 win at Palermo, the Italian league said on Monday. The league's sporting judge said in a statement that after reviewing television evidence, it was clear the Italy forward had deliberately used his arm when he slid in for the opening goal in the 19th minute. The statement said the act was punishable because it was "serious unsporting conduct". Palermo were furious that the goal was allowed to stand and even more livid that Gilardino ran away to celebrate. "Gilardino deserves a five-game ban. He even celebrated, incredible," the Sicilian side's president Maurizio Zamparini told reporters before the announcement. Former AC Milan forward Gilardino, top scorer in Serie A this term with seven goals, will miss Wednesday's home game with champions Inter Milan and next Sunday's match at Siena. Post-match use of video evidence often leads to soccer players being banned for bad tackles or violent incidents which were missed by the referee. However, it is rare to punish a player for handball using replays. --------------------- Fuckin' get in. Let's hope this makes a universal splash. Now if only we could get those 3 points we lost to Blackburn back when Chops scored that offside goal and their wanker palmed them to a win.
Liam Liam Liam O
We'll have that win at Boro when Hasselbaink equalised with his hand as well then
Mick
We'll have that win at Boro when Hasselbaink equalised with his hand as well then Does that mean we keep Bobby and can erase Souness from our memory?

Guest LucaAltieri
Former AC Milan forward Gilardino, top scorer in Serie A this term with seven goals Wasn't he shit while at Milan? Top scorer so far this season. Fantastic.
Guest
We'll have that win at Boro when Hasselbaink equalised with his hand as well then Does that mean we keep Bobby and can erase Souness from our memory? No, because Maradona's goal gets ruled out over in Mexico, England win the World Cup, and Robson goes on to bigger and better things.

Guest
I think it's a brilliant decision actually. Would be good if it was the start of a more global thing in terms of retrospective suspensions for cases like handballs, diving, etc. which the referee had originally missed during the game. Mr. Snrub
I think it is a disgrace to ban him.

TêteDeMaure
Just aswell it doesn't work the other way around, we'd have probably lost alot what with Taylors handballs. What is it about him and handballing it? He can't go a game without doing it.
Mr. Snrub
Well does that mean if there is a goal that is cleary offside yet gets given, teams can complain and get the match replayed? I think if the referee or either assistant fails to see it, it's not the players problem.

One is down to human error, the other is down to a human cheating.
Segun Oluwaniyi
I don't think we need people being getting banned retroactively at all. Unless it is a dangerous violent thing that the referee missed. Besides that, most things should be left on the pitch
Mick
Cheats should be banned, this is a very good decision and might make the cheats think twice.

Guest Heneage
He just never clicked at Milan, hes better at this level of club like Fiorentina. Amazed at this, saw the goal and while it seems landmark, i'll be amazed if every player gets banned that does it.
