Wullie
norwegian papers claiming the fee is close to £50m Good deal imo. No point selling your council house for a million quid if you then go and live in a cardboard box on the high street. Yeah it was a joke.

leazes.ender
Its not fair calling a professional footballer whos put up with straight s*** for 11 years (ok not all of them were bad) a c***/judas. It is when he's pissed off mid-season with us staring down the barrel.

Unlucky Luque
Its not fair calling a professional footballer whos put up with straight shit for 11 years (ok not all of them were bad) a cunt/judas. Tbf it is. If he remotley cared about the club, the least he would do is stay until the end of the season. Even if we did get relagated, top clubs would have him. He's abandoning a sinking ship, not giving a shit about who he's leaving behind. And to city! They havent shown any signs of becoming a top team, aside from spending heavily in the market... Thanks Given, but you're a cunt for leaving at this time.

SAK
I dont blame him for wanting to move as we've shit in recent years but the fact he did it mid season whilst we fight a relegation battle is what really gets to me. If he cared for the club he would have waited till the end of the season there would have been plenty of takers for a top keeper he didn't need to make this move right now. Carlito
We should get at least double figures for someone of Shay's calibre. Anything less and we've been robbed. I still have faith in Harper to do a job for us but I can't help but feel depressed at this whole episode, a sign of what we've become.

But look what he has had to put up with this season. An owner one minute selling then he's not. 3 managers, a full-on St James park protest AND a relegation battle. There is very little to be optimistic about. Can't blame him at all.
Guest johnson293
The Guardian says £7.5m possibly rising to £8m http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/feb/01/newcastle-united-shay-given-manchester-city-transfer-completed Sky Sports news just had a list of Citys transfer window spending and estimate Given's fee as £6m maing a total of about £46m spent. Can't believe we'd turn down £5m, but then agree to just an extra £1m?!! EDIT - sorry, already mentioned earlier.

You think he'll win something with Manchester City? Yes, they going to be playing in Europe within 3 seasons. When you try sign players like Robinho, try sign Kaka one of the best keepers in England and stick by the manager like they have done. Very good chance indeed. Owners are going all out for success. Problem? Given has more chance here you reckon? Have a go at that.
